LDU is very much a nearly player. Could be the best player in the comp but lacks that final bit of competitive edge. He’s like Judd crossed with Cerra.

Brisbane starting to look like they could go all the way. Ashcroft back next week too. And a poster trying to tell me that all you need to know about how well a team is going is their ladder position.
Does also give hope that it could click for Freo too.

I think you're right.

The way things are, as of tonight, we're 10th but there's at least three teams currently in the eight I'd argue we look superior to.

Also after their last month I'm certain North are not the worst team in the comp, despite being on only one win after 14 games.

It's a weird season

This is Melbourne's Run Home
Bris*, WC, Ess, Frem*, GWS, WB, PA, GC*,Coll
(*asterisks are their away from Melbourne Games)

They'll drop out of the 8 after for either us or Gold Coast tomorrow, but they could still pick off a few of the teams in the 3-13 zone of the ladder.

Looks like Rivers is going to play midfield to cover Petracca's loss somewhat, and they'll get Lever back soon. Can't rule them out of the top 8 - just not a Top 4 team without Petracca.

they were jinxed by the article that claimed they had the easiest run home, the week before we beat them

I'm seeing two probable wins there and then a whole bunch of games they are vulnerable in, if not underdogs

Apart from Sydney we are as good as anyone. Doesn’t seem like we got particularly better from last year. Has everyone else just got worse?
Incredibly even season.

I think we’ve improved significantly in 3 key areas.

We have a proper winger on one side. Sharp has replaced the Acres role.

Our midfield is bigger with Fyfe & more attacking with Young. Fyfe has been up & down but he’s still one of the best pure clearance players when he’s on. You can see the momentum shift when he goes in.

Treacy arrived as a player making our transition game better when he marks up the ground with his elite field kicking. He has kicked 3 goals in several games & taken strong contested marks. Amiss has been off but he’s still a very smart player & combines well with Treacy.

I’d could add Clark has been in career best form, as has Pearce plus we got Chappy back & he’s a game changer on his own.

So yeah, we’re better.

I reckon we are. The way we move the ball is better also. ( When we are playing well).
Looking at Stanley today (not long back from injury to be fair) and not having Driss for the last couple of years, I''m not sure where we are going to find another wing.

My reckoning is if we win and Essendon lose, we go from 10th to 3rd because %.

I know people cringe to hear this kind of talk, but it's in the numbers, a statistical reality.

Two big ifs though.
