Yeah I'm with Weightman on this one, he keeps getting his arm around him and contact/holds way off the ball. Does he go down soft? Absolutely. But so often we see players held and contact off the ball and nothing is done. This is the same argument as diving for penalties vs keeping your feet. You can't trust the umpires now to make the right call so you have to embellish illegal contact.

Nope. With the atrocious umpiring this year ignoring players getting borderline decapitated (there have been some bad misses in this Croms/Brions match) I don't have any sympathy for Weightman in this instance. The ones where a player flies for it and becomes a Shooting Star meme should be fined, but ones where Weightman is clearly held off the ball and gets nothing for it thats just lazy defending.


Why is he allowed to hold him so far off the ball and not be penalised? If the ball was in shot its a free kick.

Whilst i agree they need to stamp down holding off the ball. Flopping is never the answer.

There's a still shot with an arm across yes, you can take plenty of stills with no contact. He really wasn't being held, weightman could have run off him if he wanted but he'd have timed his lead wrong if he did.

I agree they are ignoring holding the man calls, in some games more than others, but this is not that.

What weightman did undermines the rules in place to protect players from injury. He should get the maximum fine but the afl needs to change the system because that should be a week off.

Its why I find it insane people have them as a flag threat, if they get a QF/PF in Brisbane they are still a chance to bottle it, and even if they make the GF if its against a Victorian team they get spanked.

It's not that mysterious. Their backline is a one-dimensional and their forward line is built around a small goalsneak. Not sure anyone expects them to be world beaters?

Actually two of them caused two of those upsets, and a 4-6 team caused another. We got extremely lucky this week that a series of other teams stumbled as well. Now indeed we get to play a lot of them. Exciting times, we'll see how we go and if the Danger man gets us on a run again.

Their two key forwards at their best are match winners, at their worst are actually a negative for their teams because their opponents hurt them though those players.

Daniher V Richmond EF, and then Hipwood in the SF then against us in the PF are perfect examples. Hipwood was useless against Richmond, their defense ran off him all night and it took Daniher magic to get them through.
Daniher missed the SF, so Hipwood then has a blinder.
Then against us, both go missing.

Completely unreliable.
