Ah well- it ended up a really good finish and pies got up as I knew they would- as soon as it got closer with 10 minutes to go-they just push the ball forward at every opportunity and go fast. Whereas the crows looked a bit off the pace and not nearly desperate enough and didn’t counter the pies properly. They really should have won.
Funnily enough though, the more I see of the pies, a very good side, the more sure I am we will have their measure!
And tiges are in trouble.
Yeah Pies playing poorly but finding a way with that atmosphere strengthens my position that they're a smidge (not a mile) ahead of the comp right now. They are gettable though, they're not a side that will dominate good teams. Come finals time their matches will be split by a couple of goals.

As for the chasing pack: Geelong coming fast, Melbourne and Brisbane not too far behind.

Pies are average in many ways but their superior fitness allows them to pinch a lot of close ganes at the end
Everyone is entitled to their opinion on a football forum

But you didnt rate them last year - yet we narrowly beat them in that all important final - which basically decided the Premiership

Yet in the off season - you continuously wrote up Taylor Bruhn - as in he was the next Hayden Bunton

If our team defence reverts back to the level it was at last year, and if one of Bruhn/Bowes/Parfitt/Clark can start being a quality contributor to our midfield rotation, then I think we will have the Pies covered. Those are significant "ifs" though.

Don’t think they are playing poorly- they’re very good. But other teams are complicit in the close losses. Can’t see us doing that.

It’s so beautiful. Hang it in the Louvre.

Looking at that - will those 3 clubs request Priority picks ?

Didnt the Eagles get Chris Judd with a priority pick

And Haw and Rich are both being totally rat shiit for a number of years - also did very well out of that rorted priority pick

The Mighty Cats - i think we are the only club - never to have received a priority pick

They were poor for 3 quarters twice the past two weeks. But yes they are very good, they find a way. People are starting to wake up to that fact.
Yes I missed the early part of this game so didn't see them till after half time today. They do find a way, but they get a bit of a leg up from the opposition who get steamrolled by the pie’s dogged, singlemindedness. It’s almost an act of will-so you have to meet that with equal toughness in the mind. Crows couldn’t. But we can.

Brisbane aren't mentally tough enough or good enough away from home.

Melbourne are their bunnies.

Geelong are the overwhelming candidate to challenge them this season.

You're kidding yourself if you think anyone but Geelong was winning the flag last year.

Pies come off a 5 day break and win again in SA, against an in-form team. Not an easy task at the best of times. They deserve some plaudits

Easy to say that now, but had we lost against Pies , travelling to face Swans in Sydney may have been a challenge.

I'd say winning 14 in a row suggests we were in serious form, and therefore would've been quietly confident against the Swans had we dropped that game.

We can say anything we like now after the events, having won so easily, but having a week off for our elders was very important.
