LMAO. Richmond wanted a quarter of their membership base to get to Marvel yesterday, and they couldn't even manage that.

Is the bandwagon starting to empty?

Context is everything, though. I believe it can take nearly 30 minutes to travel all the way from the 'G to Marvel.

Who'd want to face that kind of ordeal on the travel front, only to find you still had to watch the Tigers play when you got there?

Biased umpiring against Collingwood is dominating the media.
If it happens to other teams not much is said. But it’s Collingwood so of course people lose their minds.

100% guaranteed they get an arm chair ride this weekend.

To be fair, some of those calls in the last quarter were absolutely shocking - the textbook definition of hometown umpiring.

The media might be spinning it "oh poor Pies", but you'd really hope the Umpires Department are giving that game the scrutiny it deserves.

I know Richmond fans who have rarely been there even before they started winning flags.
I genuinely don't get the Marvel hate to be honest, conditions are always perfect, easy to get to, and if the game is good the atmosphere is loud and the place gets rocking.
It is hurt as much as anything by people having to play North there, who have been very shit for the last few years

Yes but it happens to all teams.
I remember a game maybe 2 years ago we played Collingwood in Perth. De Goey’s first game back for a while and we got absolutely slaughtered by the umpires.
It happens to all teams but if it happens to them there’s a huge outcry.

I absolutely am fine with the Pies getting shafted.... but how the hell the umps missed that high free to Murphy when he nearly got killed and when Johnson got reefed backwards in teh goal square by the neck is a concern for the standard of the umpires for all of us

and no R1 pick.

Pick the player they will trade out to get one.

Looking at their list it is bloody thin on who they could cash in. It doesn't make any sense trading out anybody younger than the guys that just traded in. And most of their older players are cooked. Nobody's going after Martin, Grimes, Broad, Vlastuin, etc.

Prestia and Lynch are about the only older guys still playing well. Does Collingwood or Melbourne offer up a first rounder for Lynch if Richmond pay some of his contract?

I think it's not so much the ground as where it is. Yes easy if you get the train, but parking is horrible, and not everyone lives that side of town.

I think both Freo and Rich would almost be hoping to lose Free agents

Not sure about that desperation when close but not quite close enough can make one do desperate things.

To me the question is what could the get for Dusty IF they offer him but keep his money. He looks a shadow of what he was but so do Rich. What does he look like in a winning side?

I think it is a big mistake to gut your side like North and the Hawks in the current era. The draft pool is too thin to go around to do a full rebuild like we did under Thompson or the Hawks originally under Clarkson. Richmond need to pension off the likes of Riewoldt and Cotchin but they should keep the rest of the senior core. Collingwood were gone two years ago, St Kilda gone last year. Some new ideas in the coaching box, a couple of early picks that hit, a smart mature age pick up, a delisted free agent that comes good and that is enough to bounce in the current AFL environment, the competition is extremely weak.

And it's not like you get pick 2 as part of priority picks, nowadays you're lucky to get first dibs on state league players.

The only thing that losing games gets you nowadays is more losses

Location wise, outside the Bourke St bridge bottleneck, it's great to get to from most parts of the city. The eastern suburbs folks don't like having to get the train past the MCG, reminding them of what they're missing out on, but proximity to the CBD for the rest of us is great.

My main gripes are with the fan experience
1. They schedule shit games there, which means the joint never gets filled. 60k at the G is a better atmosphere than 20-25k at Marvel.
2. It doesn't actually rain that often in Melbourne, and when it does it's more likely to be drizzle than heavy. So always having the roof closed is annoying, especially on a sunny arvo
3. All the concrete surfaces reflect the harsh hospital white lights they have installed there, making the joint feel especially bleak and sterile the emptier it gets.
4. The food and bev outlets, and the toilets can only cope with crowds up to 40k give or take. So on the odd occasion they do get a big crowd in, everything else goes to shit. I've seen shorter lines at a full KP or at the 2022 GF.
