Carlton's style of game is actually preferable for finals footy but the thing is, they don't have a plan B or even plan C. That style of game is not manageable throughout a marathon season. The good teams change it up and are constantly rotating their lists.
Cripps looks physically shot. Completely exhausted at the 20 minute mark of every last quarter. I see De Koning is going down the same path.

Guys like Motlop, Hollands, McGovern, Acres, Silvagni, Fogarty are scrubs. They are VFL listed footballers. I would argue Williams and Cerra are two others who are stealing their yearly wages from the Carlton footy club. Both should only be on 500k the kind of footy they produce.
Freo got Amiss with the Cerra pick too

I'd have Port as worse than Carlton just because of the length of contract they gave Sav and the amount they've committed to him as their KPD.
If the criteria is ‘don’t learn their lesson’, Carlton. They recruited not one, not two, but three former Geelong first rounders on exactly the same career trajectory, failed to modify the arc of that trajectory, then recruited a fourth who doesn’t even have the allure of being a talented junior. At least Port have mixed it up.

St Kilda being the only team not to start 0-3 is crazy.

Tell me about it, but it probably does a good job of summing up their past decade - they've won 1 wooden spoon in 2014, but they had won 3 of their first 5 matches that year before turning to shit & winning only one more match

They've kinda just been there abouts for finals, but never good enough to be a serious contender and other teams have just been more shit then them

It's like they have these periods every year where their fans get excited by what they see, before then been let down - just that it hasn't been the first month of the year that they've let their fans down

Surely it is time for Gold Coast to actually accomplish something meaningful. Their list is starting to look really stacked with talent in all ends of the ground and they have God knows how many top end academy products coming through.

We do say this every year but if Hardwick can't make something work with that list, then we might as well just fold them now.

Do Melbourne throw the kitchen sink at TDK?

I know Gawn has just turned 33, but he's still got 2 years on his contract after this season and while this season is only young, he doesn't seem to have that aura to him as we've seen in past seasons

Could the lack of genuine ruck support for him, especially since Jackson was traded to Freo, be telling during these later years for Gawn

The GCS are impressive, for sure. However, they must maintain this level of performance for most of the season and make it to the finals. How often have we seen them make a strong start to a season with wins, only to fade away? This has to be the year they play finals.
