AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Yeah . It's a bit of a heartbreaking loss when all they needed was a bit more composure. In a one point loss:
That's the crazy thing, the team in seventh had half a dozen or more chances to win that one at different points.
- Callum Brown misses two gettable shots when he's usually a pretty good set shot.
- Keeffe doesn't handball over the top to Greene to run into the goal.
- Tom Green doesn't centre the ball to Giants outnumbering one or two Pies at the top of the goal square.
- Bedford (?) and Riccardi playing on from a free kick and meandering themselves into trouble.
- Greene going the dribble with a Magpie sitting in the goal square.
Noone seemed to be able to tackle him. Noticed alot of the dusty fend offs he was doing tonight.De Goey is hitting some serious form. Nothing Dunks can't handle though.
Yeah he had a massive influence tonight with his ability to break out of congestion when no one else could. Dunks is gonna need to to a job next week for sure.Noone seemed to be able to tackle him. Noticed alot of the dusty fend offs he was doing tonight.
If we win i’m all for them wanting to roll the dice with Adam’s tissue paper hamstrings.Adams for Feral Dan possibly..more run
We obviously made a decision on Jack straight after our first final I'd say.If we win i’m all for them wanting to roll the dice with Adam’s tissue paper hamstrings.
Think you mean Danny DalyMight be a good time for Zorks to leak those JDG vids.
Let's hope De Goey had his big day out tonight.Might be a good time for Zorks to leak those JDG vids.
If it wasn’t Daicos and Collingwood, is there anything to the tackle?Kingsley absolutely spewing in the presser about Daniels having to come off for a HIA in the last 5 minutes when he says he didn’t need to. Assuming it was from the daicos tackle.
Luke Hodge was also saying during the week that 3 out of the 4 grand finals the Hawks won in his time they scraped into the grand final by a goal or so in the Prelim.Daicos still got 13 or so contested possessions didn't he ?
I would've much preferred to play the Giants. They would've been totally gassed next week.
The Pies have won games they probably should've lost and should be a lot fresher for next week.
Getting out of jail with all the emotional momentum they'll have ,they'll be very hard to beat next week.

It won’t be like that next week. The supporter bases are usually evenly split whilst the corpos take up the rest. If we make it (), you’d think any neutrals will be on us.If we make it next week the one thing we would've learnt from tonight is that when they get some extra impetus from the crowd we need to keep our heads and our composure and play the game at our tempo.
The Pies play with a lot of emotional energy and you suck that out of them by keeping possession and nailing your chances.
Yep all just speculation and passing the day until tonight, can not wait to get there, will be a heart breaking sad walk home tonight if we get beaten.I had the same thought, but looking at recent history it seems a narrow prelim win doesn't bode particularly well in the Grand Final. The last couple of prelims that have been decided by less than a goal were Sydney beating Collingwood by a point last year and GWS beating Collingwood by four points back in 2019, and both those teams had some of the worst Grand Final performances we've seen.
Richmond did okay off a close prelim win in 2020 though, so not a golden rule.
I was openly barracking for Collingwood at the end there. Think we have a much greater chance of beating them next week than we did the Giants.
Their midfield group is missing Adams (seems unlikely to be back in time) and has an under-conditioned Daicos who struggled at times last night. De Goey is a major threat, but he can't do it alone.
McStay being out would be an enormous help structurally too. It might make them move Howe forward, which would disrupt them significantly. They don't really have much else in the way of key position depth.
Anyway, all just theoretical unless we get the win today.
Daniels will be fined for staging instead. So careless medium-high impact for Daicos?
