Ken could be lifting the cup with Rozee on grand final day having beaten Geelong by 119 points to avenge the margin in 07 and I still would think port are overrated, flakey and crap.

Fake team, very frustrating that we started the season so poorly and finished so limply.
We're all feeling it.

Just so close to being on top this year.

Let's hope we can take the long way home.

Final bottom 10 positions:-

Ninth-ingwood

Tenth-Mantle

Eleventh-don

Saint Twelfth-da

Thirteenth Coast Suns

Fourteenth-bourne

Fifteenth-aide Crows

West Coasting to 16th Eagles

North sub-spoon-bourne

Absolute Spoon-mond

No matter what happens from here, we aren't any of these train wrecks

I think our biggest opponent will be ourselves in week-1. We’ve kicked more goals than behinds on 8 occasions this season. Kick more goals than points, we win.
No doubt you may already know this but in every single loss this year, (8) we have kicked more points than goals with the exception of round 2 when we kicked 10.10.

Of our wins, we won 8 when kicking more goals, even x 1 (16.16 in round 4), and won 4 times when we kicked more points than goals and won.

Not sure if you can read much into that, but your post piqued my interest to look it up.

Looking at the finals draw, unfortunately, its opened up particularly nicely for the three Vic clubs.

Dogs v Hawks in Melbourne with the winner likely getting Geelong and at the MCG (Hawks win at their home ground) or (Dogs win at the neutral venue). For the Dogs and Hawks, they will likely only have to travel once (to Sydney to face either GWS or Swans) if they got to the GF where we would be on the road for three weeks in a row (provided we can even get over Carlton).

Even Geelong if they overcome Hawks / Dogs after playing Port in SA, will be up to Sydney for PF weekend travelling twice in the finals campaign.

Seems Dogs / Hawks keep getting kissed on the proverbial such is their luck in 2024.

Whichever blues player tackled Higgins kn the wing could be in trouble… 2 arms pinned, head hit the ground.
Sounds like Matt Owies will be sighted by the MRO. Tom Morris mentioned it on SEN this morning.
Was paid Htb. Thought it should’ve been in the back or dangerous tackle.
The AFL need to look at this in the umpiring in the off season. On field adjudication of dangerous tackles needs to align with MRO.

This is nothing new, and it will never change. 10 out of 18 clubs play their finals in Melbourne. They only year it could be different is if the top 4 is all interstate teams.
(Okay it could be different… but the odds are certainly in favour of a vic team drawing another vic team in finals).
The only possibility for interstate clubs not to travel (other than GF) is to finish top-2 and win, or for the 2 clubs from the state to miraculously draw each other.

It shows how close the top 8 is when the teams have a 50/50 record when playing against each other.
Except for the Lions, who are 3-5 against top 8 teams, and 3-8 against top-10. 😳

…though that is well reflected in our finishing position of 5th!

I was quite impressed with Port last night, they looked to have a steely resolve about them, their pressure was fantastic and looked calm when under the heat from the Dockers... Jason Horne-Francis is a gun, could have a huge finals series.

2 home finals guaranteed so they are a huge chance to play in the GF.

Yeah but those top 8 teams that we lost to also have a win, so if you break down all of the games the top 8 played against each other then it is an even split of 50/50 winners. IE 50% of the time one team has lost and 50% of the time a team won.

For reference Kingy ran with that, it's not the top 8 teams all having a 50/50 record against each other he was speaking about, but how amazing it is that all teams in the top 8 have an even split of 50/50 when playing each other.
