GAJ best player I've ever seen but he's getting a lot of plaudits for a game where admittedly he kicked two goals and had 36 touches I saw 3 instances where he passed to a teammate under pressure to receive it straight back and two instances where he passed to an open man on the run and instead of running on to block the man in front he just stopped so after a pressured moment his team mate had no choice but to turn around and pass it back to him.

I didn't even watch the full match.

Very harsh. So you wouldn't have seen all of the 14 contested possessions, 10 clearances, 11 score involvements, 8 inside 50s. Etc.

Admittedly no. And there's a high chance I'm focusing on the lacklustre moments I saw, just from what I saw it wasn't some redemptive game, just a solid one. Completely willing to concede that whatever happened whilst I was watching the Blues/Bombers game might have been game breaking.

Pull your head in ...if we had him we'd be three zip.

You dont rate him a champion...

I didn't say he wasn't a champion. In fact he's easily the best player of his generation to my mind.

what sport do you know anything about ?.?.

How good is Saad? He reminds me of Pearce Hanley pre-op, a real line breaker.

Or better yet the legendary Fitzroy and Brisbane player Scotty Bamford. Fastest player I ever saw. I remember in an AFL Record one day it said "If you think he is fast, you should have seen him when he lost his daughter at the shops."

I am actually surprise that Redden seems to have gone backwards since going to the Eagles. He seems to have less impact on a game than he did with us, and that was one of the major faults he had at the Lions.

He seems to be more a depth player for them than anything else. I suspect that had he stayed with us the same would sooner or later be true. He just doesn't really have enough to offer other than being generally useful and moderately competent - faint praise at best.
We have bastinac filling that underwhelming thought he should be better midfield role now.

Would like to see GAJ's shepherding numbers. Seems to prefer the ball carrier copping the hit then offloading instead of offering protection.

I know it is early days, however, the Saints prized top 3 draft picks McCartin and Billings would want to start showing something sooner rather than later. Turning into a bit of a disaster for the Saints who could have selected Bontempelli over Billings and Petracca over McCartin. Those guys were selected with the picks directly after the Saints chose McCartin and Billings. Add Bont and Petracca to the Saints midfield and they look genuinely dangerous and a likely top 8 side.

Yesterday against us McCartin had 5 disposals, 2 marks and 1 behind and Billings had 14 disposals and 2 tackles.

Sounds like someone's uncle went to the Port-Adelaide game. :(

Actually this is an issue I have been stewing over since yesterday. There was an incident at our game in the Lions fan area where (I am not sure of what lead up to it but there was some verbal back and forth) an older Lions fan punched a Saints fan from behind. I was pleased to see other lions fans immediately restrain the Lions fan and tell him off. Lions fans also went to get security and have the man escorted out. It was during the third quarter when we were up and about and it soured the day a little. Thankfully the Saints fan was fine and thankful at the reaction of everyone around him but it just shows that there are idiots in every fan base

Why was an Essendon supporter at the game?

It's fairly common / getting worse at showdowns. Port & crows fans spend 10 home games a year as 98-99% of a home crowd majority & carry on & get away with shit that clearly isn't appreciated. One there's more numbers (& more dickheads) from the away showdown team then shit fights go on.

Plus there's 50000 of their unruly home mob compared to the total numbers in other states. Melbourne their always used to having 2 lots of fans, it's more set in the footy culture there. Seems to be less incidents, plus the security & match day is run a lot better. Sounds like the Adelaide oval security had their head up their arses too by the sounds

Not sure we will see too many more night showdowns if it keeps up.
