Hmmm...reasonable odds.
The Eagles are no good, but playing them first-up worries me, they'll have a point to prove at home and want to show they have improved on last year, especially with Woosh clinging to his position.
But give them two months and I expect they'll be awful again, like last year.
Having Cox fit is a big boost to them, but they still lack class in the midfield, can't hit targets and have a dodgy forward line that relies heavily on LeCras.
The GC kids gave them a run for their money in the practice match at Subi too.
I am not sure we are certainties, but that seems good odds to me.

head to head we were $3 somthin the other week
dunno why our odds are shot, just cause we're traveling to subi round one against the weagles. Not a big task in my eyes, we've got the legs to run round subi all night

chuckin $50 on our boys to win :thumbsu:

WCE are bad and our 22 will look fine even if below full strength.

Is Nic Nat a starter or not? I know he hurt his shoulder in the NAB series. I'd be far happier if it was just Goldy v Cox without having to worry about a legit 2nd string leaper against Boomer or whomever we use as No. 2

We beat them there last year without:

Drew
LA
JZ

Hansen was awful and Patch was unconcsious.

I think anything over $2 is value. I'll be on board.

I'm alot more confident now, than I was prior to seeing us play the Bulldogs.

I'd rather we were playing them once their shitness sets in but, being round one, you'd hope we're just as fired up as they are to kick the season off well.

I get de ja vu form our round 1 game last year.
Like we beat Port second time round when their shitness shown thru.
And in rd 22 09. But in the new season we got done.
But things that are different this year are.
Bons coached for a year so well be ready.
No laidley in the other box.
We usually win the night matchs in adelaide but lose the day ones.
All have no effect on round1 at subi. Im confident but wouldnt be surprised if we get done. Injuries and travel being a factor aswell as Woosha geeing up his players.

I actually get a whole lot of confidence out of round 1 from last year that Bon will do just about anything to have them firing for 4 quarters and have us hitting them pretty hard right from the first bounce.

Sure the 3 points to Essenscum would have seen us play finals last year but so would have a competative first half in round 1 (we would have won if we had show up at the start of the game)

Bon will know the importance of this game, the players will know the importance of this game, I have a lot of faith that will shine through.

Yeah I am pretty sure we can win this one, I feel the talk of our injuries is a bit over hyped as the the big losses will probably be Petrie, McIntosh and Greenwood, although we could cover Greenwood to an extent.

The likes of Lower, Bastinac and Campbell are a loss, probably not the end of the world as we have abundance of midfield talent and small forwards to cover them and in any case Lower and Campbell may have missed out on first round selection anyway.

Lastly that helps my confidence is our best players are playing, Wells, Harvey, Swallow, Rawlings, Adams, the list goes on.

I heard from a very, very reliable source that Lynch has been given the nod at FF this year ahead of Wilson.
I would have prefered Wilson lining up, as Lynch, Kennedy, NicNat and Lecras present a challenge for our backline especially if Narni doesnt get up.
This is my only area of concern for us losing.
Their midfield is absolutely horrible and backline is very iffy, especially when you have the likes of Brett Jones, Will Schofield, Ash Smith, Mark Nicoski and Eric McKenzie in line for selection.
The question will be, with so many blokes missing and underdone can we run out a game at Subi.

Should go into this match with the confidence to absolutely put them away, we are a much better side then them and its time that we start employing this winning attitude rather then always doubting, its been too long that we havent been certantie's to win matches

Mindblowing arrogance. You beat us by 16 points last year and that was when we played without

Glass, Priddis, Brown, Butler, Sheppherd, Kerr, A.Selwood who will all play in the place of the likes of Matt Spangher, Patrick McGinnity who both got absolutely toweled up in Round 21.

Not to mention all the outs you guys have. McIntosh, Grima, Rawlings, Greenwood and Lachlan Hansen under a injury cloud to boot. You beat a side MUCH worse than the one we are fielding in Round 1 by 16 points, bringing a worse side yourselves over for the game yet your gonna blow us away. Dream on guys.

Mindblowing arrogance.

I agree. We are no certainties and we have shown that we are capable of playing horrid football on occasion.

The injuries didn't matter in round 21 last season. North were without Petrie, Goldstein, Ziebell, Anthony, Thomas and Hansen was hobbling about on one leg.

I'll be happy just to come home with a win, considering our outs.

North Melbourne has depth though. Eagles have none whatsoever. We were also missing key players to our structure, our FB, our CB, our 1 and 2 midfielder, our number 1 tagger, and 2 of 3 pacey small defenders we do have. Important players when versing a side like yours especially with the pacey forward line which we have struggled with in the past. FWIW I think we will line up like

FB: Butler Glass Sheppherd
HB: Waters Brown Hurn
C: Rosa Priddis Embley
HF: Strjik Kennedy Hams
FF: LeCras Wilson Shuey
R: Cox S.Selwood Masten
I/C: Naitanui Kerr A.Selwood
SUB: Ebert

Our starting midfield looks poor which it is but the key is going to be when the 2nd unit runs through there. Something line

Naitanui Kerr Shuey

Rosa and Embley will rotate of one wing and A.Selwood will drift down back and let a Sheppherd, Hurn have a burst in there. Thats gonna be the key to this game I think. If we can keep it even early on we should take over in the 2nd half as our 2nd tier midfield get on top
