Judd only had 14 touches and played 80% of the game. If Cunnington was tagging him then it's an excellent effort and also an excellent experience for him.

Adams is a star, Bastinac will be one.

MacMillan has played himself in to the round 1 side.

Mullet is also pressing.

We missed Hansens height down back.

Robbie T would want to be hoping that Black doesn't go out and kick 5 for the roosters next week.

JMac - Just about the best game ive seen him play. Sure hands and good field kicking will make him an automatic selection for round 1. 7/10

...

Our game style is now emerging and as has already been mentioned it is similar to Geelong but there were times we went around the boundary from the back line and I counted 5 times we moved from backlne to shot on goal without a Carlton player touching it. My only disappointment today was that I never brought my surfboard because the waves our boys were creating when running were Bells Beach like.

Good to hear about JMac. One of my faves.

Also, that game plan stuff is interesting. I think Bon is developing the side so that it is capable of making week to week adjustments i.e. not just blind corridor stuff like Geelong in '10 or the Pies last year.

Picked the wrong pre-season game to miss. Cross face.

Listened to SEN and was reminded why I have foxtel. Because even when their commentary is shit, I can turn it off and still see what north are doing. I turned SEN off and still had as much idea what North were up to. With SEN on, I got the wrong score, an update on the food, and an ongoing assessment of Chris Judd. Yawn.

your not wrong more worried about there halftime feed than the game then again by the sound of it the dirt on the glass of the radio booth may of been at fault

yep, this I like. different plans for different teams and different times in the game.

One thing I really want to see this year is the ability for us to shut down games when teams look like getting a run on.

Finally that 15 minutes in the 3rd when we kicked 6 in a row was unbelievably good football as we won just about every contest there was including at least 7 turnovers I counted from pressuring and tackling. If that's our ceiling this year then we will be beating good teams this year, mark my word.

Major improvement in linking up and a bit like the rd 22 Richmond game last year where we lost the contested ball but counter punched from half back.

Given JZ and Greenwood will come in - I expect our contested ball will be good enough again this year.

The run is what will see us break open games and put away weaker sides earlier.

We did move around the boundary and cut back in a few times.

Plenty of times had 4 on 2 70m out waiting for someone to move inside 50.

Went to Princess Park and had a great day.
Sausage Roll and full strength beer for decent prices, just like the good ol days.
Crowd was in good spirits, lots of North supporters, our play looked like the Hawks of the eighties.

Here is a run down on how I saw some players performances:

...

Fantastic rundown BE, disappointing about Swallow though, hope he lifts in the real stuff.

No need to worry about Cunnington as Lileasy pointed out to me in the 3 rd quarter how well Cunnington was tagging Judd on the ball and when I watched him closely that's what he was doing so ignore the possession count today as he was hard at it and I lost coin how many times before a hand in, a spoil and tackling was first class.
Ah, very good :thumbsu:

Im a wrap for Cunners like many here. Without seeing the game it makes it hard to know for sure whats happening.

You would think those clowns on sen might have actually pointed something like this out though given how much of their time they spend focusing on what Judd is doing.

MacMahon - don't believe he played much of the first quarter but when he came on he was really good. Disposal was good and his. Oil head stemmed many attacks. Worked really well with Mullet and JMac. 7/10

I think we have found a new nickname.

1.7 out of 10 is a bit harsh. :stern look

Firrito - did some. Ice things in the second half but his opponents (Robinson and Waite) were two of the Blues better players. 5/10

Tarrant - Not many stats and was subbed for the third quarter but I can tell you this. He is a natural forward and runs to the right places. His work rate plus the contest he provided allowed Petrie more freedom. Must persist with him. 6/10

Not sure if you are serious or have a touch of heat stroke?

Tarrant did his best impersenation of a ghost and Spud was very handy down back.

In fact Spud and especially Scott T did an amazing job since they were playing as key defenders in an undersized backline. There was quite a few time we were defending against Waite, Kruezer and Hampson with such a small line-up down back.

Went along with a mate. Had a very enjoyable day. It's a shame we're not using these suburban grounds anymore. Great atmosphere.

I was not enthused by our performance at the half time break. Kept lamenting the fact we always battle or chase teams on the scoreboard - we never seem to be the ones being chased or or the ones that are dominating. What followed in the third quarter was amazing. Some of our overlapping runs were brilliant. Running it with handball and picking out the right target that was running into our forward line. This is where Macmillan deserves his praise - just some brilliant decision making on his part. I made a mental note that he played very well but I'm surprised he had a lot of the ball as well. I did notice that he was the one giving instructions across half back which was good to see.

I really liked the look of our forward line - our midfield definitely supported them. Tarrant plays round 1 now.

Swallow played a great game - really noticed him press forward to create opportunities in the forward line. Did not see Ziebell though I would have liked to very much.

Great day. Great win. Hopefully that third quarter is a sign of things to come this year.

From Spitta's twitter account, he'll be right for round 1 yeah?.......

Was at the game and think one player that deserves special mention is Sammy Wright.

He was cool and calm under pressure despite the fact Betts and Garlett were buzzing around all day. Definitely one of the reasons our disposal out of the backline was improved today.

Surprised about the lack of enthusiasm about today's performance.

We slapped a full strength (excluding injuries) Carlton's arse without getting out of second gear.

Firrito was outstanding. Rating his game 5/10 is baffling.

Wow, Hudson is a terrible radio commentator. Not sure how many mistakes he's made today but blatant mistakes like

"Carlton have won, 15.10 - 100, defeating North Melbourne 18.8 I mean um, North Melbourne winning"

How can you not get the mistake that wrong unless, even if perhaps he was reading off a teleprompter.

by the sound of things at visy park they were sitting in substandard booths...ffs kingy couldnt find it,it was that bad, windows not cleaned, no complimentary food and drink, no computer display under their noses to help them out with info etc.
those poor bastards:thumbsu:
