Well, seeing as he cant pay until round 3 I would play him. Match fitness is a huge factor in the early rounds. I think its going to be a good indication of where we are at and TBH I think we need to take this game very seriously.

I hope he does play and puts Mitch Robinson through the turf.

Wonder if Luke Delaney will be able to take his place. Cam was very impressive on the weekend but not sure he is ready for AFL ready bodies just yet. We may not have mch choice if both Narni and Keys aer out for a bit.

Well being the NAB cup he can do what ever he wants, wont have to serve his suspension to next years NAB cup :thumbsu:

would Hansen at FB and Pedo at CHB not do the job?

I think Pedo is a more natural forward/midfielder than defender or is suited to a utility role. This week Carlton will likely go in with 2 or three rucks, which will mean that one of them will play forward. Not sure if Waite is up and about or who else will play forward for them if he isn't, but I think he will struggle against a much taller opponent, as he did on the weekend, or against a natural key forward. Back flank, sure. Third tall defender, sure. Key defender? No thanks.

For me Lachie is a better CHB as he can then drop in on the high ball when the opportunity arises, much like the highlight in the Sydney game. A full back generally does not have the luxury of dropping off his man to do this. This puts Pedo at FB which quite frankly scares me.

If neither Grima or L. Delaney are around for round one and Taz plays forward we could come up a touch short at FB, depending on the set up Essendon use. If the play Hurley and Carlisle as key forwards, and then rotate Hille and Ryder deep as resting ruck they may be able to expose Pedo and Thompson close to goal. Hopefully one of the two missing FB's are available as they are naturally more suited to play that negating, spoiling role.

At training today Hansen, Grima and Car Keys were all doing rehab work.

Not good.

Christ.

Yikes. I'm worried now.

I'd be playing Cam Delaney against Carlton.

Bulldogs forwards were for the pits, but I liked what I saw in his development.

Decent enough agility, very rangy, goes for his marks and reads the ball well, might be lacking the tank atm, but if we are struck by those injuries, he's next in line imo.

Play him on Kreuzer/Hampson the whole game they have a similar setup in some regards to Essendon, see how he goes, as possibly a pre-cursor for playing him on Paddy Ryder in Rnd 1.

Yep. A bit of a set back.

I'd be putting both spare keys and tarrant down back for periods of time in the Carlton game. Vs Essendon we might go for Tazza at full back/CHB and put Pederson at CHF.

Not good indeed.

What's the story with Hansen?

Nothing mentioned on the club webber.
Probably something minor, if it were serious the club would have let us know.
Wouldn't be surprised if he is just having a light week on the track and ends up playing on sunday

@Husk.... I know where you're coming from but jacks fit and very important now to us being a force this year. We cant afford to lose him via an injury.

@TPAndy.... Mitch is injured lucky to play rd 1

Looks like Walker's out, so that relieves a bit of pressure on the backline.

Good to see the LA of old on the weekend, who if we are picking on form, is ahead of Atley at this stage of the preseason.

Thought he showed some great signs that he's close to getting back to his best.

I agree.

LA has surprised me. Going back behind the ball could be an inspired move. I think he needs that extra time and space to operate in, and his run and receive is close to the best in the team.

Atley has only been ok, and seems to be playing pretty much the same role.

I would definitely have LA ahead of Atley for round 1, assuming they are playing for 1 spot.

Im not suprised with LA posted late last year :rolleyes:he was smashing himself pre-pre-season and training with backs his tank has improved 100% on last year and body shape and core strength significantly better. IMO will be a scarey prospect from HB with his attacking ability or maybe he is our new tagger with benefits:footy::D

North Melbourne will regain the services of three of its most important players for the clash against the Blues on Sunday with Drew Petrie, Scott McMahon and Lachlan Hansen named in the 25-man squad.

The trio was rested during last week’s win over the Bulldogs, but will aim to get some valuable game-time ahead of round one.

Brad Scott has continued the trend of managing the workload of key players with Levi Greenwood and Jack Ziebell two of the seven omissions in a reduced squad.

First-year player Brad McKenzie will miss this week after enjoying his first taste of senior football, while Cruize Garlett, Aaron Black, Cameron Pedersen and Gavin Urquhart have also been left out.

Daniel Wells is again in the line-up and will no doubt see an increase in his minutes in a bid to be ready for the opening round blockbuster against the Bombers on March 31.
