Turned up with the exact game plan from earlier in the year when we shut the game down completely against them and they planned for it. And again coaches were reluctant until very late to change it up.

Is what it is, horrible football game from both sides. But imo, they won that in the coaches box. We were way to reactive, on the back foot from the get go.

An absolute meh game, if they're happy with that good on em, cant see either team doing damage in september going by that "spectacle".

Saints win tomorrow and they are right back in it. We aint home yet.

Why Daw? At least he created a contest in the air every time. Petrie looks like he couldn't be f****d. After he got outmarked by Roughead in defensive 50, didn't even bother to even look not to mention put his hands up while manning the mark....while Roughead kicks the goal. Pathetic. GTFO.

It was firmly tongue in cheek.

Sydney should sue the Bulldogs for shamelessly stealing their "how to beat North" game plan.

Ie put 23 players behind the ball and then run it back out the other way.

The sad thing is that we fall for it every. single. time.

I don't know why every team doesn't try to do it against us.

Port done it too us too, made the point in the game day thread. Quite evident the easiest way to beat us is flood back and play counter attack we dont have the speed to go back the other way.

Doesn't help when you keep handing it back to them.

That will happen when our inside 50's are 1 against 4.

Whenever our midfielders look downfield all they see is 42 defenders, so they pause and turnover happens.

Remember in 2000 the only team to beat Essendon was the Dogs, and they only managed it by employing a 1 in 100 year flood. They haven;t changed shit since.

Sad thing is, other teams deal with it, we lose our ever-loving shit.

One of the worst games to watch since the Gold Coast loss last year.

Thoughts:

- We just couldn't handle how Footscray set up (flooded) behind the ball. Needed to take it on with quick ball movement but we were never ever brave enough.
- Ben Brown's injury is a catastrophic result. Couldn't think of anything worse for our chances in the game, including Goldie going down early. What was Twinkletoes saying the other week? "Brown has become the big wheel on our penny farthing." Well, now it's a broken down unicycle.
- Not his fault because he's a young player and hopefully he improves, but Jed Anderson isn't AFL standard at the moment. He's hard (kinda), but it comes across cheap shotish, panics with the ball and not good enough with his disposal. Looks like he should be a natural footballer, but isn't. Hopefully he can improve, as I say. A poor man's Garner.
- I'm not saying Boomer was doing it just to get to the record, but now that last week's milestone is behind him, it's time for him to start hard lining the ball again. Body on the line again.
- Goldie stood up in the last, decided to take it on himself again. Need more of it.
- as soon as Brown went off we should have played JZ as a permanent forward and did everything to open it up.
- Daw's lack of tank is very concerning. If he doesn't have an acceptable one now, when will he?

Against the undermanned Dogs it's hard to judge, but put Waite, Brown, Higgins and Wood into that forward line and it's a different ball game. Of course the main problem is, will they all be fit come finals?

Something is wrong with our core group of players no doubt

Wells, Goldy, swallow, zeebs, cunners are all 100% cooked, injured or underdone

Not only that but Drew is about as inconsistent as ever, LT goes missing and I could go on and on

The rotations and Injuries have killed us off this year. We are not mentally strong due to brads coaching ability so we are no hope in making a dent this year

Again, I don't like putting all the blame on brad when we lose because it isn't all his fault but it stems from him for sure and the culture he has created for us

Our losses under brad have been the exact same every time. It's all mental.

Good on Bulldogs though, they pressured us out of the game and just were mentally strong.

Am I allowed look at 2017 already? I don't know... Feel pretty empty

Seriously buddy, offer some insight apart from "how shit is our coach, plays the favourites!!!!!"

OK.

Any chance of mixing things up? Trying something different?

Our skills continue to be shit. Nothing is done.

Our 'structure' is adhered to rain, hail or arse reaming.

Petrie is cooked. Continues to play. He got beaten by a school kid.

Anderson is just not ready. Picked to play.

Zero accountability. Zero leadership.

Be nice to have our forward line on the park.

Garner - Waite - Wood
Higgins - Brown* -

Moti was taking the piss, relax.

It was a joke, in that that is probably what Scott will do, not what he wants.

Looked really poor without brown. I can honestly only see us going backwards next year. The last 2 months ha shown that absolutely everything needs to go right for us. And the injuries and poor form and the slowing down of our veterans - mark my words we will miss the 8 next year. Hell we might even miss the 8 this year!

"Bulldogs are a proud club. We knew they'd come hard at us tonight. We were prepared for that. We had a great week on the training track. Regardless, I know our best footy is ahead of us. In 2023."
We know what we have to do just a few tweaks here and there.

We play uninstinctive footy.

Robotically look for the release out the back even when a player may be moving forward of the ball.

Without tall forwards it would require a new strategy which I am not sure we have let alone have time to implement.

We were never a flag contender and tonight illustrated it. No ability to deal with pressure on the ball carrier and no outside run.
This.

Fortunately I didn't truly expect any great heights. While injuries have played a big part in the middle of the season, the biggest disruption has been to any possible momentum. We've never "played our best footy" as it was implied we would this year. 2018-19 before we see any major change, at best.

We won virtually every single available statistic except two:

1. Inside 50

2. Scoreboard.

Why? Cos they worked so much harder than us to get numbers back. Every time we thought about going inside 50, we thought again.

And when we coughed it up thinking about it, they sent it down the other end with interest.

We need to inject some leg speed into this team, and there are a few sacred cows I'd happily trade to get it.

Too many coach killers in our team that can't execute basic skills that they practice for hours on end .

They suck the life and momentum out the rest of he team .
