I would'nt put Mont on a pedestal just yet. Mont are well known chokers and have been in this position many times. I think the Mont boys are there own worst enemy. They are a very confident bunch and it works against them when the real stuff starts. Already im hearing there is backstabbing in house I.e i should be playing in front of him and he does'nt deserve a go i've been here for years initial J C and thats the reason mont are often there abouts and just cant take the chocolates. Heidelberg Nth Heidelberg Granny Mont straight sets.

Im not a mont supporter at all but at every club theres backstabbing and i dont thinkk there the same old mont over the last 2 years mostly this year though improved there team dramatically with outsiders

Drove past Monty yesterday and it appears Roger Federer has refused to play there until they get some GRASS!

Must admit Phoenix that it hasn't come up as well as we'd hoped after the summer grass planting. Amazing what a window of two to three weeks will do. Site Borough and Banyule. Anyhow it is infinitely better than this time last year and the weekend rain seems to have improved it a little.

At the end of the day is a lot better than what was delivered for the first round of the season.

Clubs might still have to bring their buckets and spades for the rest of the season and don't they hate the thought of that?

With this backstabbing an so on you talk about,its always gonna happen at clubs when you burn young blokes and the blokes who been around for a while for those big dollar players just to try win a flag,you generally end up loosing more than you gain because of it!! I guess it depends what you want for the club,success at present or future success with the building of players!!

Bundy - refer to paragraph 2 of my post.

North - sorry haven't seen it.

But neither of these two grounds had any works done on them over summer from the best of my info.

Must reiterate the matter of one or two weeks can make a vast impact on how the grounds will come up after the works. Borough and Banyule were done two or three weeks before Mont. Problem with Mont was that it didn't get the necessary rain that the other two did straight after.

Anyway should come up alright next season and be better the season after.

Yep pg works have begun but contingencies are in place to make for Sunday and the remaining 6 home games to go like clockwork. The ever faithful Mont supporters have been called to arms to give a chop out in any way they can.

Without a doubt will be a testing time for the Club but it'll be worth it in the end.

Part of the criteria is to be financially sustainable, is their any truth in the matter, or is it just hearsay. From all reports people are still very keen about the concept.

Agree he and the young kid umpire who officiated the 1sts could swap places for next week. would make the standard of umpiring go up 10 fold by just replacing him (even though overall it wasnt digusting umpiring just poor)

I believe that the kid who replaced the injured umpire, is one from the newly formed Academy at Parade College.
With the likes of this kid and the others it appears the comp will have good young umps coming through.

We'd have some good Old umpires running around too, if some blokes didn't have such pea hearts and shoulder issues .

moth just curious as to who played well for n/ park i seen they obviously have a very good even spread of players now across the board be it as they seem to have no superstars in there side dominating there best every week. and trying to fill a big hole in there leadership with there captain gone, could there lack of leadership be there problem for their lapses in games!!

The young lad done a sterling job was funny when the the umpire went down he had signal for the stretcher himself

Eastern League have had a vision of creating a "super" competition for some time hence their previous interest in Balwyn, Heidelberg etc transferring as a step in that direction.

AFL Victoria however have differing views and are keen to strengthen existing leagues not decimating them to create a premier competition.
