Re: Northern Football League Division 2

Well I am writing with my tail definitely between my legs. No excuses guys. We have had a great pre season and were simply beaten by a very well drilled Whittlesea outfit. From an insider's perspective, both Bennets have had better days, Shaw will be better for the run and Willo left the ground injured. Now we turn our focus to Panton Hill and look to get on the winner's list.
JUDDS: Agree with your thoughts there mate. Whenever a side does poorly there are the inevitable excuses and as a Macleod devotee we are not making any of these for our efforts last week.
GHOST: great result for your mate Sinclair. I anticipated a much closer game than that. He must be getting pumped for his half time sprint against Puffa in Round 5 (at least I can still be jovial after the Round 1 loss)

what was whittelseas strength ?
they tell me the guy in the ruck is all class ?
what are your thoughts having seen them first hand

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

Heard whispers of infighting amongst the lower u19 side, apparently a man known only as "the pig" been dragged before the lower disciplinary board for a punch up involving a team mates dad on saturday night.

The dad in question was in a wheelchair being pulled along by his seeing eye dog at the time, pig saw the opening and went bang. Heard telling his mates later it was the "best punch i ever landed".

Poor form llewelyn.

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

CLEOD 9: For a moment there I thought you had disappeared off the face of the planet. I spent about 30 minutes from the comfort of my car watching your boys train last night. They certainly appeared very vocal on the track and I anticipate that Macleod will hit back hard against Panton Hill in a one-sided match.
As far as your obssession with Sinclair and the half time sprint, I give up trying to explain myself. Perhaps you can approach Sinclair on the morning of the Round 5 game and tee everything up yourself.
Anyway, here are my tips for this week's games:
Lower PLenty 20pts
Macleod 84pts
South Morang 12pts
Epping, 18pts
Thomastown 30pts
Watsonia 35pts
Whittlesea, 39pts
Good luck to all

i also had heard bout wat Nath Llywellyn did on sat nite at he's own club and was absolutely shocked! How he is still welcome down the bear cave has got me stunned surely the club would be a better place without such an individual... especially as he doesn't provide much on field!!

And the bottom 2 of 1st Div will then drop back into 2nd Div.
Any team wanting to enter the league shall enter through the 3rd Div, unless special adjustments are granted.
Me, I like it alot. A helluva lot.
In 3rd Div it will provide a great chance for the S.Morangs, or H.West's, or P.Hill's to possilbly play finals. And as I have said before, a grand Final win is a Premiership all the same, regardless of what Division is has been won in. You just ask the hundreds of supporters who somehow show up when a club is travelling fairly nicely.
As for the 1st Div, each week would provide a competitive match that would be great for competition, and 2nd Div would be much the same.
The only teams that would struggle would be bottom of 3rd Div. However this is no different to how they struggle at the bottom of 2nd Div. Oarduous task, than it is in a 14 team division.
nly differance being that the climb into finals would be a much less
I Agree with that proposal only if there were at least 8 teams in division 3. 6 teams is simply not enough.

Spot on,I agree too, "But" the affiliation fees are ridiculous in the NFL. Lowly clubs have to find 25 grand every year which kills them. I would have thought with the new administration and the "missing money" now corrected that the fees would drop, NOT!!
There should be higher fees for 1st div and less for lower divisions IMO..

Last I heard Lacey, after deciding not to go back to Reservoir, even after tsome money was thrown his way, has not been able to train for some time due to injury. Good recovery for the boy if he is back in the side.

Nath llewellyn was caught in the back alley of his trade school sharing needles with a couple of junkies he sucked off in collingwood while scoring smack, apparently he wacks it up in his eye. Wouldnt be suprised if hes got hep c :D

also watched the south morang vs fitzroy stars game. the south morang players looked pretty soft and many didn't seem to want to put their head over the ball. and who was the #21 at full back for the lions? he didn't look interested. poor show by the nfl and the lions not having the correct numbers in the football record.

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

how was the game played? was it a tough game or nah? the stars blokes are pretty big boys so it wouldve been a big step up for the young morang side, but i guess that they will have 2 learn that as time goes on, apparenly the umps took over the game sending off neerly 5 players with a yellow and also a red for one. any1 else got anything to add to that, thats as far as i can recall of the game, fitzroy just too good for the young morang.

I was of the understanding that this year divisions were pay different fees and the umpires are getting paid more for division 1 and the league was billing them on an umpire by umpire bases.

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

Looked at a couple of games in part during the weekend. 2 of which were Div 2.
Great start for H.West, however quickly down hill from there. Going to take a lot for clubs to contain Watsonia's forward line. Aside from Sab and Eccles, who will take some beating one on one, the spread of talls through the forward line will spread oppostion defense. And from what I saw, Sab will always get the 3rd or 4th tall, who he will dominate, as he is quite good above his head. That is until teams wake up to this, or they read this post....
Watched a little of the Lower/Parkside match.
Seemed no exscuse for Lower. They had their gun talls playing, however P'Side seemed to move the ball, with greater purpose and efficiency into their forward line. Lower's forward line seemed more potent above head, however it was Parkside's single tall of J.Ross, who was the best marking forward on the ground. He was helped with the ruckamn changing up there, and one or two others, however it looked like Lower should have done much better with their forward line. Admitedly I did not watch the entire match.
Looking forward to heading out to watch some more quality matches this week.
Comparing the two matches, if I may, Lower game was much faster paced, and tightly contested. Wat's game was loose, soft and too easy for their forward. Well played by Clayton for the Wat's as well. He'll definetly carve teams with rampant marking and running fromm the backline. Looking real good.
Comapring the two with the 1st Div match I watched on the same day, Div 1 boys are much bigger, faster and less selfish when it comes to sharing the ball.

I thought that the affiliation fees were to be reduced for the clubs due to all of the sponsorship $$ that the NFL are receiving.

Playing gear - Hot Sub (What a balls up)
Footballs - Concord Park (When you can get them from Sherrin)
Photography - Box-n-dice (??)
Action Alliance - Umpires (sponsor on those flattering uniforms)
Tara Press - Footy Record (??)

Or is to pay the salaries of the employees of the NFL??

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

Good Win Today In Front Of A Massive Crowd At Mernda.
100 Points In The End, Now A Massive Game Next Week As Parkside Are Playing Some Great Footy And Will Want To Be 3-0.

Off To Bed Now And Get Up Early For Work, Thank God We Only Have One More Sunday Game. It'll Be A Long Day 2mrw.

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

mernda have beaten only one side above eigth place in the last three years - sth morang last year

they are probably destined to follow the thomastown model and are building to some kind of success rather than steam rolling toward it
true with their best twenty two they would probably play finals but that ain't going to happen and neither will it at any other club most likely
i expect they will go up and down as do most sides that have a large number of youngsters aclimatizing to senior footy at the one time .
will be interesting to see how they handle the whittelsea game sunday ?

Beaten pretty easily id say i watched the sunday game.whittlesea looked flat compared to last week with a different outfit of players this week compared to last. And they still managed to win by 100 good effort and a good team to watch play.Although Mernda suffered a big defeat some younger players played well, they arnt superstars yet but certanly played well B.Anderson,J.Stewart,T.truong and Shelton.
Majority of Merndas goals came from younger players also.
Eagles are a tough unit this year very quick, hard and versatile.great to watch!
