yeah but by then he will have finished VCE. he is definitely not certain to nominate and told me as much last week.
I don't think VCE is much of a problem.
I think he doesn't want yo leave his mummy

He'll nominate...
The media took his modesty out of context. He was saying he wasn't sure he would nominate to sound like he doesn't think he will get drafted sort of thing.
He will nominate and if he doesn't can;t he go to GC next year?
Surely WCE will be very interested in a talent like Jack Watts. Their lack of key forward has been an achillies heel for years and they really loaded up on mids in the last draft with Masten and Ebert.
I know they have Kennedy developing but he's more the rangy roaming CHF type... Watts seems like his game would compliment Kennedy.
The odds rarely lie, bookmakers have ways of acquiring the information that matters. You would think if there were any chance of Watts not declaring for the draft the odds would reflect that.
I dont see it. I understand the risk with the go-home factor but you cant deny that picking Judd was the best outcome for WCE. They won a flag with him dominant and after five years of fantastic performances they turned him into Kennedy/Masten/Selwood. The gohome factor will always been there but I dont think you can afford to let it sway you substantially in your drafting strategy. They will not risk Watts going home in 4 years ala Judd. Rich is just as good and has NO "go home" factor. A safer bet, and a A Class mid which they lack post Judd and Cousins

Also, given they spent two first round picks on midfielders last draft I dont think they're going to be concerned about their young midfield stocks.
If they rate Watts as best available at their pick I have very little doubt they'll take him.
Will not happen. WC will take Naituai or Rich, Rich is by far and away the SAFEST option as well. Judd was good..but it has screwed the club over, which is why they will not want a real top draft pick going to waste. Watts may or may not be the star that we all think he will be. Rich has much less risk attached to him.
they won a flag with judd
and i think a fellow by the name of cousins actually screwed the club over
Yep I understand that argument but I'm just not completely sold on it. For me the drugs issue coupled with the public condemnation contributed more to the clubs fall from grace. Not convinced Judd leaving had THAT much impact, just one factor in many. Will not happen. WC will take Naituai or Rich, Rich is by far and away the SAFEST option as well. Wtf? They got a good trade out of it, so much for no bargaining power. Both screwed the club over, Judd more so as WCE had no bargaining power at all at the trade table. They did win a flag- he also went home in less than 5 years. One of the main reasons they went Masten last year, one of the reasons they will go Rich/NicNat this year!

How has he screwed the club over? I'll tell you something, go ask any West Coast supporter that if the 2001 draft was held right now, would they take Judd or go for the best 'home grown' prospect (incidentally Polak).
West Coast got screwed over by taking Judd - my ass!
Exactly my point.Totally agree
130+ seriously high quality games from Chris Judd including 6 straight years of finals, 2 grand finals and a flag
In return we have a high quality rover and one of the best young CHF's in the game - both are likely to play 200 games each for the club.
The pain will be short term - West Coast are in the process of building a very formidable list with only 1 year out of the top 8 - they will have the equivalent of 3 bottom 4 finishes and 9 top 20 draft picks from 2005 - 2008
If Judd didn't leave West Coast would probably be around the 6-10 mark this year given the way injuries have gone - the list would be going backwards and we would be without the 3 top draft picks to rebuild around.
If we get the same type of thing from Jack Watts between 2010 and 2017 then I highly doubt many people will be disappointed.
