Jameka at $6 is a much better bet for the Melbourne Cup anyway.
Connections of Hartnell might be kicking themselves that they didn't go for the Caulfield Cup not the Cox Plate though. They were never a hope of beating Winx

Winx has beaten him on average 6 lengths per start going into today so given how welll she went he probably ran to his mark. Maybe a length or too below.

I know I was trumpeting it per race but I completely agree. Anyone who thought any horse apart from Winx was 'value' or a good 'bet' needs to take a serious look at their punting.
There are races to look outside the obvious but this wasn't one of them. She'd flogged the second fave pointlessly 3 times and no horse had got near here in Australia for a year.
She was the best of good things.

i was looking at her form a few months ago, interesting fact that only 4 horses had pulled ground off her in the last 200m ever.

I'm not as negative about Hartnell's run as most. I wanted him to challenge Winx for the spectacle but nothing indicated he actually could. But he did rally late to pull away from Yankee Rose a little and I won't rule him out of the MC.
Is pulling away from Yankee Rose a measure of stamina though?

Hartnell's a forgive he was ridden to win and lost his action. not sold on what that means for the MC i'll be risking him but i think he's better than that.
