When we delisted Bell we effectively ended his career. North for some reason gave him a lifeline, and Bell maximised the opportunity to become a premiership winner and legend of the league.

On top of that, he had the grace to return to Fremantle.

The stuff of legends is Peter Bell.

The decision to move to Geraldton for business reasons and only train once a week was a bad look in 2008.
Not as bad as seeing him at IGA. He is very short 🤣
Absolute legend.
All he wanted to do was play for Freo.
Was dudded to north but still came back and led Freo..
I do think he has helped steady the ship again post Ross Lyon.

Not perfect, but his heart was in the right place.

Could have won the Norm Smith as well. I certainly rated his game better than Shannon Grant's that day

Nasty speculation. Completely disrespectful and without meaningful evidence.

For all we know he asked to change role last year and then decided that he wanted something different.

Thanks for everything Belly.
Bell had no idea about the move 12 months ago until he was told in Garlicks office. Completely blindsided. Come to your own conclusions as to why he’s left now.
I was told at the time by my sauce but chose not to post on advice from others with itk’s on here. Now’s he’s gone it doesn’t matter.

Of all the Dockery things the club has done I think this one takes the cake, delisting Bell after 2 games then trading Sinclair and pick 6 to get him back.

Coulda had Shaun Burgoyne, Damiel Kerr, Ash McGrath ect

I don’t have any ITK, but from my perspective it had a feel about it that it wasn’t a decision Bell initiated. Special Operations…

Love Bell and has given his all for this club in all positions. Personally, it is quite obvious that the club felt it was best served having a new General Manager and tried a gentle out the door type approach. Members can draw their own conclusion on the approach.

What I can say is that he came into the role at a tumultuous time. Part of the process to move on RTB. Unfortunately for him his appointment came at the time Neale had enough of it all. Given Bell’s apt only days before it al went down the blame can’t be pointed at Bell for the Neale out and Hogan in. Steve Rosich and the board at the time have a lot to answer for. The fact that Neale wanted out in the first place is the most disappointing aspect.

Anyway all the very best to Mr Bell and thanks for all you have given and done for Fremantle football club.

Where there's smoke there's fire.

There's nothing in the media release about his next move which is curious. Typically when someone like Bell leaves it's always to pursue something specific.

I wonder what went down.

After the Pav, Peter Bell is up there as our spiritual leader.
As a teenager he had a newspaper article about a possible AFL team based out of Fremantle hanging above his bed.
Every morning he would get up and start training with the dream of being part of that inaugural team.

Coming back to captain after winning 2 premierships.

Reentering the scene to clean after Ross Lyon.

I don't think you can really question his desire or love for the club.

I'm baffled why anyone who loves the club wouldn't wish anything but the best for Belly. He may be thought to have been a bit too hands-on when running the footy department, but that only speaks to his personality type, not his care for or service to the club.

If you haven't listened to the Peter Bell interview on ABC listen app with Richard Fidler you must have a listen.

Peter has had an amazing life full of character and fight. Has overcome many obstacles in his lifetime where others would have fallen by the wayside

He did everything he could for the club .
Thank you Belly and all the best for the future

Will never forgive Bell for sacking Ross Lyon. What Lyon would do with our current list is scary.

I was dead against Bells ruthless approach to the salary cap, offering any player not in the top 10 of the team well under market value causing so many players to leave.

However, it has left us in quite a powerful position now with the opportunity to go at Bolton's, Warner's and Pickets, who we wouldn't have otherwise been able to.

It's a little ironic how Bell forced Ross to move on players in the B22, leading to poorer short term results for long term gain, and then never getting to use the list that was built, has now happened to Bell.

Given the timing of the news release (Nov 1) I would say that it was a matter of his contract came up, and wasn't renewed.

Footy department contracts, like players, end on October 31.

Whether that decision was Bell's or the clubs... people will have their own ideas.

Yeah they do set length contracts. Probably couldn’t move him on before that without a significant soft cap hit.

Pretty obvious he was soft fired last year.

It's no surprise that things like ends of contract, ends of month, timing to starting preseason etc etc spur decision making.

By whomever.

We can be reluctant to make big decisions and use external markers as kind of deadlines... if we don't have them already.

Sure we can love a bit of frothy soapy drama, but change is a constant in footy clubs.

He might have been a good player but his record speaks for itself. For Freo, 2 finals appearances as a player and 1 finals appearance as whatever his admin role is/was. 3 years out of the 15 he has served at the club we've made finals.

Was instrumental in getting Ross Sacked and Longmuir hired. This situation caused the last CEO to resign and 5 years and 1 finals appearance later the new CEO sacked Bell.

Traded Lachie Neale for Jesse Hogan and then traded Hogan for a bag of chips.

I think there's a convincing argument that Bell is one of the worst influences the club has ever had.

Bell was against getting Hogan in the first place. That was a captain call from Lyon/Rosich in bringing him here with all those issues.

Lyon is definitely the best coach we have had but inherited everything Harvey (C Scott) did building it up and playing the youngsters etc. He is good getting the most out of average players but no good building a list and bringing in troubled players.

I'm not sure there's any credible evidence of who wanted what with Hogan.

Undoubtedly, getting Hogan in was a good football call though. It was just very poorly executed.

No doubt the buck had to stop at Bell for that poor execution/result... whatever level he played in it.

It doesn't bode well for him managing the Petracca and Oliver situations smartly though. Although, perhaps he's learnt from it.
