Pick 28 for Hampson...what the?
Must have more to do with getting Megan for marketing purposes.

Pick 28 will become a pick in the early 30's once we got compo for thomas and saints get comp for dal santo ect ect

Plus it is a weak draft with poor depth, so it's probably not too far off.

I thought the bidding was today for father sons? Hence McDonald from the Roos?

Monday 7 October 10am - father/son and Academy players bidding meeting; Gillette AFL Trade period begins.

Bidding was today we nominated J.Kelly for rookie FS selection not one bid so it means if he gets through the draft he automatically goes on our rookie list.

Also they had fair few glowing wraps on him from his TAC coach and also said he measured in at 190cm, nice type for a HBF.

Wallace on Trade Radio reckons that Shaw is worth about the same.

If we end up with a similar deal to that, to quote Terry, "Ill spew up".

Why didn't Thomas and Carlton just sign off today? CBF? OR?

Carlton stated that they'd submitted the paperwork but were waiting for Collingwood to indicate if they will match the offer. When asked what the Pies had said, the Carlton rep basically said Collingwood wouldn't tell them anything.

Very hard to give up 10 AND 11.

The beauty of early picks in a row in the top 20 is that you're all but guaranteed 1 gun, because these days, recruiting teams don't stuff up much anymore (unless Mick Malthouse is the coach).

Look at us last year with Grundy, Broomhead and Kennedy. What looks like 3 guns, is most certainly at the very minimum 1 in Grundy.

Having 10 and 11 means that you're going to get at least one of those picks very right.

If we only have 6, we could end up wasting it.
Agree, two picks is better than one. Give us two first rounder players in black and white jumpers.

Playing games to delay Carlton's manouvering in the draft period??????????
Don't think it will effect them in the slightest.. All I see this doing is delaying us getting that number 11 pick which may be used as a way to lure Adams. Hopefully we don't miss the boat on him.

Not sure on procedure, but I would've thought a response from the AFL on what pick we'd get in return for Daisy wouldn't happen immediately in any case.

BREAKING NEWS: Collingwood's Chris Dawes has been traded to Melbourne for pick 20!!! Guys let'not get ahead of ourselfs yet still waiting on confirmation.

This is unlikely but what if we are getting a sense of who we may be picking up and the salary required prior to working out whether we will match it.

The only way to assess if you pay overs is by whether you can keep everyone. It really doesn't matter what an individual gets paid as long as the group stays together. Granted Daisy wants more than his share but it is what is best for the club and others have been happy to take less. If we can get what we want done and match then so be it.

As to him leaving us, or being disloyal, things can turn around - look at Swans Ryan O'Keefe, he wanted a trade to the Hawks. Swans played hard ball and kept him and now is a premiership player (and I think All Australian not sure).

Not happy with how Daisy has gone about it but it is only overs if we can''t keep them all. If we are going to miss out on Adams etc then let him go, but if we can manage it why not - can't be a 'stuff him he wants to leave attitude'.... must be a business decision.

No one might as well turn up for the next 2 and a half weeks as they all play the 'bluff game' might as well set up a heap of poker tables for 2 weeks so they can practise their poker faces.

Utter joke this 3 week long trade shit.

Yeah but think of the clicks they get an AFL type sites plus Trade Radio, they've extended the seaon now to about mid December. Annoying but money grubbling good value for the AFL.;)

I'm sure this doesn't actually stop US from picking him up in the draft though?

If we decide we want him with 5th round (if he is still available) in the ND, for whatever reason, we can still do it yeah?

The Dale Thomas offer is official by the way;

@AFL_PKeane: Carlton has lodged an offer for Restricted Free Agent Dale Thomas.Collingwood now has 3 days to determine if it will match the offer or not.

Carlton and Tigers just did this too;

@AFL_PKeane: AFL accepted trade papers between Carlton and Richmond. Carlton exchange Shaun Hampson for Richmond rd2 pick (currently listed as pick 28).

And that's day one.

Yes but if we wanted to put him on our senior list we probably would of just nominated him for the 4th round.

He hasn't been that great over the past year so he is much more a rookie prospect
