it's no wonder- they'd be paying for all those extravagant holidays every year, wouldn't they? :p
LOL I remember sending a friend a get well card after surgery, which read: 'I hear your operation was a success because your surgeon just bought a new Mercedes!' lol

hence the difference in picking up players like Clark, Delaney, McIntosh and Smith who were consistently struggling to get through a season to begin with.

Selwood at least has the runs on the board, just hope he does not become another Daisy Thomas is all. At 25 years of age, he's got youth on his side but if he struggles to play 25 games over the next couple of seasons, stick a fork in him.
You need a fence.

You're already onto smith, we don't have him.
And you hope Selwood will be ok.

Man you are struggling.

Long walk. Short pier.

He's already past it, can't see him having much of an impact in games compared to the other mids, let alone help push the club towards another flag. Waste of money. Poor decision by Wells and the recruitment staff.
Well you'll have to forgive us if we prefer to take Wells + Scott's confidence in Scooter.

Seeing as it's a day into the trade period, I think it's too early to make a call on how clubs have gone, Rome wasn't built in a day pal.
Just be assured that if we require your great recruiting talent, we'll be sure to contact your manager at IMG!

Yeah it's rubbish.

They can ask all they want, but how much does the player know, and how well can they convey it?

Getting the kid who works the pumps at shell to share info to United means little.
Get someone like SJ though.......
Agreed.

But SS and Paddy would know what was going on, and how to convey it. *evil laugh*

Wow really, never knew that. Would some clubs have an issue with that regarding IP or trade secrets? I guess players are told things on a mostly need to know basis. Hmm ...

I just find it intriguing that no-one's tried to stop the flow of information with non-disclosure agreements when the players leave. God law school has really got to me haha.
Well that is what Troy Selwood told us at the sponsors training inner sanctum last year... you would imagine most clubs know most things about the other clubs anyway

Just listened to the presser thought Scott spoke really well as Paddy did yesterday.

It's funny how alike the Selwoods sound when you hear them speak (having heard Troy speak at vfl games Scooter sounds just the same) but no question over his attitude, you can tell he is coming for the right reasons and is driven to get back to his best and will bring a real work ethic to the group.

Hopefully the ankle surgery goes well tomorrow, sounds like he will be back by Christmas so will still get a decent pre season, and am I hopeful we will see him find his best form again next year, is a very good player and a quality person.

I think he will bring so much more to the club than a dodgy ankle and contested possessions.

Character and leadership to follow a wonderful period for the Cats. With more people like this in our corner for the coming decades - you would expect GFC to stay strong for the long term. :thumbsu:
and another selwood to get under the skins of team and supporters especially down at the hawks

Cheers.
Says he requires an ankle reconstruction?,and wont be back on training track til early 2016.
Not the best news, considering he will now miss a large chunk of preseason.

Luckily there is plenty of time between now & april I guess, Better to get it sorted early I guess than wait until the new year like some other seasons recently where Bundy had back surgery & missed 1/2 a season I think it was from memory.

When I was 17, 12 years ago, I thought I knew everything. I actually knew bugger all.

Scooter gives us the inside player with tagging abilities that we severely lacked this year in the midfield. We're not asking him to be our best, second best, third best or even fourth best mid. When not trying to nullify a star he won't get a lot of attention from the opposition, freeing him up for clearances. We're setting him up for success.
Great insight!
When I was 29 (in 1788 ;)) I thought I knew everything. The thing about growing older is that you never really grow up. What you do learn, as the years flash by, is that you really know very little. So age encourages you to seek more knowledge, to develop + with learning the ego diminishes, you open your mind + you have lots of wonderful experiences.
Your post shows what a great mind you have + it is exactly as you say, Scooter is at Geelong for a specific purpose, one we really need + we're setting him up for success. Scooter is being given another chance. People forget that life isn't like school, you do a test + you either pass or fail. Life gives people chances to redo tests until we pass. Still, there are those who never learn, who keep failing. Let's recognise what we have in Scooter, as you have Adam + chances are he will thrive.

I had a long, long lunch, which is why I'm so philosophical lol Be glad I'm not feeling amorous or argumentative lol

Tut-tut Kitty. You've been around long enough to know there are a few posters here in whom all the Geelong footy wisdom resides.
 Thanks AM, I did forget

It's good that Scott is going in for surgery tomorrow when he could be using the time to presumably pack up his house and move everything and take O/S holidays-he is basically forgoing most of his break that they get under the CBA to get fit as soon as possible so as to not compromise his pre season, it's a good measure of his commitment.

Yeah I always presume with things like that (see also: double agent, POW returnee debriefs) it's more confirmation of existing information rather than seeking out new information. How much of it is relevant by Round 1 next year is anyone's guess though.

it will be good to get some inside knowledge of how West Coast went about it under their new system.
Some very handy secrets will get passed along, something we really could do with so that in itself will be a mini win for the club, let alone the player who can hopefully overcome his ankle issue.

I highly doubt we gained any secrets about Melbourne or North Melbourne's tactics :D
+ Adelaide?

Remember how Essendon demolished us the first game after Bomber went there?
