Tye Gander and Billy King seem to have fallen off a cliff this year, after some hype last year. Anyone know what the story might be there?

On the other hand, Indhi Kirk seems to have come on a bit.
Full year of football, more games and some flourish while others might have some more work to do.

Heard Leo Barry's kid is a gun. Though they're currently based in Victoria.

Only two 18 years olds from Sydney in the Allies squad. I think Kirk's probably the closest to getting drafted and even that might be because most Sydney fans would want another Kirk on the list.
Appears as though preference has been given to the 19 year olds as they make up a large portion of the squad. Some 18 year olds unlucky this year but will hopefully get their chance next year. 4 of the 7 Swans boys are in their 19th year. After a pretty disappointing NAB League, I hope they make the most of this opportunity!

That is great news and if he plays well he could still make the allies squad.

Is he either 18 or turning 18 this year?

My sister tells me he and Indhi Kirk are the only two 18 year old Swans in the NSW team.
Bummer that the 19 year olds have dominated the Allies squad, but they did miss out last year because of COVID, so I suppose that's fair.

I wonder if Indhi Kirk is a rock star in that team based on his last name alone.

As for your nephew that is actually quite an accomplishment as he is essentially playing as an underager.

Yeah. I'm pretty happy for him. He is a thorough professional in the way he prepares. He trains throughout the week with a few guys in the Allies squad. They are all pretty professional with their training and recovery.

I am still surprised we did not draft Anderson.
I reckon the Swans knew he wasn't going to be drafted. So, they gave him an extra year in the academy, where he still gets to play VFL, still trains with the seniors (maybe not all the time??) so is still learning and engaging in the culture.. but not taking salary cap or list spot.
ie.. Still developing as a Swan, but for free.
If the Swans are happy with his continued development, the Swans are likely to get him in the 2022 draft / rookie draft

I reckon we'll see it again this trade/draft period with another academy kid.
Think its an adjustment to list management post reduction in list size and salary cap, as well as the draft age going to 19yo. Could well be very smart list management

For Sydney Swans we would have liked to here of the Sydney Academy boys:
(my underlining)
#16 Felix Rogers (Swans Academy)

Quite far and away the best player afield throughout four quarters, Rogers was an absolute menace for NSW-ACT. He was the most damaging forward afield, booting three goals and having a hand in many others. Working hard up the ground, the over-ager was constantly and looked to be productive on the attack, proving very difficult to tie down for SA’s defenders. Two of his majors came in term four, as handy reward for his overall effort.
#25 Angus Anderson (Swans Academy)

Anderson is another inside type whose style suited the conditions, and he built into the contest nicely. Utilising his clean hands and strong frame at the contest, the Swans Academy graduate powered forward out of the middle and distributed the ball well in the engine room to be one of NSW’s most prominent ball winners. Also able to impact defensively, Anderson wasn’t afraid to lay heavy tackles and has clearly benefitted from recent senior experience in the VFL.

#26 Luke Giacometti (Swans Academy)

A key distributor of the ball from defence, Giacometti was not always damaging but worked to set up play from the back. The Swans Academy member is built well and often looks to go by foot, utilising both short and long targets. That in mind, he gave South Australia a few different looks as the Rams moved the ball out of defence, getting plenty of opportunities to do so as he racked up possessions.
