They don't mention that Collingwood has equivalent number of father sons as our Academy since academy inception. Same rules qualification. But no Eddie legitimacy.

They're really not that bright.

I could reply "like their teeth" but I won't. It is interesting that this narrative that the "Academy" is Sydney centric.
Always comes back to Sydney.

Who is the number 1 rated draft prospect this year=Ashcroft-Brisbane Academy.
Who was the number 1 rated father son last year?=Nick Daicos-Collingwood father/son
How many academy kids come out of GWS "Academy areas?". More than Sydney.

Academy=Sydney.

Academies are producing kids playing AFL like nothing else in non AFL aligned states. Drives TV ratings and future AFL stars. Stronger local competitions.

Sydney is still academy centric in VIC idiot AFL minds despite its progression in other areas like western Sydney and Brisbane. But despite them AFL is growing in non AFL states. Idiot Eddiefied supporters of VIC clubs are like Russian people believing Ukrainians are being liberated.

The other issue they choose to overlook is its more than likely high quality players will not make it through under an AFL academy system. Northern rugby league clubs will scoop them up by promising they'll never live anywhere but local.

So the number of draftable AFL players will go down.

I hope everyone avoids the Main Board Academy thread whines- they're only trolling Swan supporters and you lot fall for it every time.

I don't go there. It is a never ending merry-go-round.

Have you tried explaining this to them orrr???

I stick to my usual routine of calling them ****ing idiots without them realizing I'm calling them ****ing idiots.

Yep. But still great to see our Academy players having legitimate avenues to the top grade other than the Swans. The Academy is still in its infancy as far as growing enough players for the entire competition relative to NSW population, but we are slowly getting there.
Shame to see a player dropped after 6 games. It's hardly long enough to gain any traction. Still, if Essendon can cut young Hird....footy's a cut-throat business. I assume Luke Parks is a local boy, so maybe the Swans will pick him up as a rookie, if they think his flaws can be worked through. Devil you know and all that...

When I'm feeling adventurous I like to go there, drop a line or two, and that's generally enough excitement for the next six months or so...

Pretty careful not to say anything offensive... I'm not that adventurous!

I am guilty of the same. A one liner here or there, usually angled towards questioning the many other inequalities in the game, and leaving because no one wants to have that discussion.

Long may they all suffer as we pick up AA quality players ad infinitum.

They want to keep their cozy little advantages that no one ever questions them I’m more than happy to reap the benefits of ours.

Personally I think there is only one foolproof response. Rotate the GF or deal with academies.

If Melbourne clubs can play the most important game of the year with the backing of Home Ground advantage, they can deal with academies designed to grow the game nationally.

I once commented on the irresponsibility of Nathan Buckley drawing attention to Sam Wicks' bootstuds (and the hate mail that ensued).

Banned for life.

Cabor - HBF/ mid
Cleary - inside mid

Selected for the futures game

Do we know anything about them?

I mean, very general question there...

But yeah.

180cm/ DOB 05/03/2005
Caiden has been playing well, looks very composed when I have seen him. Look very comfortable on either side. Proligfc in NAB league for underager, averaging 22 disposals over 4 games

181cm/ DOB 28/09/2005
Cabor has been largely played as HBF in u17s games earlier this year. Good drive off of the flank. Player one game in NAB league with minimal impact and TOG. Played well in u17s games earlier this year

Actually think Lugsdin was more impressive than Cabor in the u17s matches and Nab

Also, have high hopes on Caleb May going forward 204cm ruck, 2023 draft eligible

Did I read somewhere about Leo Barry's son being really promising?

I may have imagined it.

I don't think he's gotten a game this year at Oakleigh. Maybe he'll rise again next year when their gun mids graduate to the AFL?

Also MVP for swans u16 team

Joel Cochran (UNSW-East Sydney Bulldogs/Swans Academy)
28/03/2006 | 194cm | 85kg | Key Forward

Listed as the Swans Academy’s tallest player, Cochran made his presence felt across the three games and was among his side’s best in each. Though key position size, the 16-year-old impressed with his follow-up work and ability to impact at ground level, contributing useful play at the fall of the ball in a few terrific showings of repeat effort. The Swans finished fifth of six teams in Division 2 and even in their biggest loss, Cochran hit the scoreboard.

Indhi Kirk and my nephew have been playing Premier Division for UNSW-ES over the last few weeks. However, both have been relegated to the U19s. A very strong club having the top grade(Premier Division) and U19s in the grand finals tomorrow.
Wishing them well for U19s
