Tom Lee will most likely be delisted by then and Hickey will be rotting in reserves.

In all seriousness, I wasn't against getting Hickey for 21 but 99% of Pies supporters didn't want a bar of it.

A poster on your board summed it up best:

"need a mini rebuild - trade away 2 first round picks, jesusfacepalm.jpeg"

You got stooged, no matter which way you look at it.

Well, I'm glad you know their futures...Now I know we got stooged! And here I was thinking these guys might be good, but nope, you've convinced me that they've already been delisted or won't be playing. Seems you know more about the future than the football staff of a football club.

Yes, Pies supporters on the Collingwood site are discussing the merits of trading for Orren Stephenson

Yes, we are the fools aren't we

Somehow I don't think Lee will be replacing Riewoldt. He might eventually be selected in the Saints forward line after Riewoldt has retired, but he will be a significant downgrade on Riewoldt. It would be a bit like saying Lonergan will replace Scarlett.

Well obviously.

Unless we play one short someone needs to fill reiwoldts spot.

One of the biggest fruitloops around doesn't represent our supporter base...

Edited by Colin D'Cops: On-topic thanks

He kicked 60 goals in one of the main state leagues this year (including 6 in the GF of the Foxtel Cup, against a strong VFL team, with plenty of AFL listed talent in it) at 21yo and is incredibly athletically gifted, as well as talented.

He's only fairly recently stopped growing and has only fairly recently started to take his footy really seriously and realise what it is going to take to make it in the AFL and that he's not going to get by on talent alone.

If he was on your list and he was performing at that sort of level, at 21yo, kicking bags of goals in your reserves team, on top of being versatile enough to also play down back, or pinch hit in the ruck, are you seriously suggesting that he wouldn't have been getting senior games this year?

How many clubs have a 21yo "jumping-Jack" that's 195cm tall, yet also very capable on the ground and is capable of kicking 60 goals in less than a season in one of the 3 main state leagues, on their list?

Cameron Wood?
Getting pick 26 back does make the trade seem more balanced, but it is still a lot to throw at an unproven ruck.

I am not criticising St Kilda BTW, since young ruckmen often get traded for high picks. Still three big bodied ruckmen in Mumford, Jacobs and Maric whom have all played excellent football since, were traded for relatively poor picks.

Interesting article, when I clicked on the link I assumed it would be Caro's work with such a wild claim in the opening paragraph but to see Quayle attached to the story lends a bit more legitimacy to the angle she is playing.

I doubt the AFL will sanction them though and they certainly wouldn't ban Tippett.

As if they would do anything that would ultimately have a negative effect on Sydney..

Soak it up? Soak what up? Free Agency is over and the trade period is not exciting at all. Bring on season 2013.

I'm pretty sure that Colin D'Cops had his tongue in his cheek. He would be hoping for this period to come to a close more than most, he is a mod on this board ;) :D

There's been a few ordinary moments, but considering how long this has dragged on it's been pretty good :)

One must wonder, if this is true, why Adelaide approached the AFL with this information.
Calculated risk.

Avoid an ugly AFL investigation, a WTF please explain if a strange trade goes ahead or things spiraling out of control if the deal goes to arbitration.

So by taking the initiative they may possibly limit damage in terms of AFL repercussions and media backlash.
