Round 1 fixture - we play Yarran.

Probably not such a bad thing to get it over and done with. Last year's opening round exposed us for the pretenders we were and an indicator of our bleak season ahead. So it'd be interesting to see how far we've come.

Buckley tears Yarran a new one.
Tall forward line of Vickery/Griffiths/Riewoldt - Jamo and Rowe provide support to The Weitering!
Plowman swung forward in a surprise move to counter the dominance of Rance.
Casboult runs rampant as a high half forward with Phillips as a decoy in the goalsquare against Chaplin.
Kreuzernator crunches Maric in the first minute.
Lamb, Thomas, Kerridge all hit the scoreboard.
Whiley blankets Deledio.

And then I woke up...

I can just see Buckley giving Yarran a hard time and Yarran trying to go the knuckle... unfortunately for him, it's going to be like a silky terrier going up against a pit bull because Buckley won't back down and he will give back twice as much as Yazz hands out.

And then you will get Holman flying in to help fly the flag... closely followed by Cripps and Armfield and Tuohy.

Welcome back Chris... ya tosser.

From the Aus

"CARLTON has been savagely erased from the Friday night schedule.
The AFL will on Thursday announce the Blues will not play on a single Friday night in the 2016 season.
The slap in the face from AFL headquarters comes after the Blues played six Friday night games this year for zero wins and an average losing margin of 75 points.
It would’ve been seven games, but the AFL intervened in Round 23 and moved the Carlton v Hawthorn match from Friday night to Saturday.

Carlton chief executive Steven Trigg on Monday night was disappointed with the outcome, but was pragmatic after a horrendous 2015 season.
“We don’t like it and it’s an almighty backhander, but there’s old saying in footy and it’s you get what you deserve,’’ Trigg said.
“It’s fair to say what we served up on Friday night fixtures last season didn’t help.
“We were expecting some sort of change but to have to have zero is in stark contrast to the year before.

Fingers crossed games at SCG or Blacktown or even better Manuka!

Happy the club are accepting and looking inwardly for the blame there, however we only had so many Friday night games last year because the AFL screwed us with the experimental 2014 fixture. They should have balanced both years so they didn't have to be so reactive for next year. Smacks of incompetence on their part quite frankly. We were on a hiding to nothing both years.

hell this is what some of our supporters wanted anyway. People wanting us to play in small stadiums in non peak times need to get their heads checked - we've played ourselves into irrelevance in a two year period.

The timing is awful for the club and its financials - we're trying to sign a major sponsor - to replace Mars - with **** all exposure.

Its another reason for me to hate Malthouse, and if Trigg thinks it wont affect our sponsorship then hes a clown as well.

At no time in my 45 plus years of following footy have I been aware of an old saying pertaining to the game that went "You get what you deserve". A complete and utter fabrication.
