Historically, not many Collingworth coach has coached the Pies to three successive years without finals appearances and survived. We could put the nail in his coaching coffin the same night we elect a new Prime Minister which would be pretty sweet :)
Well yes, except we won't be getting a new prime minister. Alas, that's for a different thread though.

Richmond recuiting Cousins knowing he went at shot up whilst getting interviewed is everything you need to know about Richmond

Its a ****ing disgrace Wallace is now trying to distort the truth that Richmonds interest in Cousins, with complete knowledge of his drug problems, was all about Cousin's own welfare and giving him another shot.
You absolute ****ing vampires. you lying campaigners.

PRO has long been and continues to be frequented by lying campaigners

Some nuffie on The Collingwood.board thinks they can trade Witts and Cloke to Essendon for pick 1.

We all laugh at Richmond fans, but Pies fans live in another dimension of stupidity altogether

Brisbane's premierships over a decade ago are of zero relevance to the argument of whether or not they should receive a priority pick.

I don't think Brisbane should receive a priority pick & I'd be very disappointed if they were given one by the AFL.

They already receive enough draft concessions as is by way of their academy. They already have priority access to certain players. Over the past few drafts they've had priority access to:
  • Eric Hipwood;
  • Ben Keays;
  • Liam Dawson;
  • Harris Andrews; and
  • Jonathan Freeman
On top of the above they have two more promising young footballers tied to them via their academy, both of whom are at this stage projected to be drafted within the first two rounds:
  • Jacob Allison; and
  • Jaco Rolls
Do people really believe that Brisbane's issues will magically disappear if they are granted a priority draft selection?

Brisbane are a massive concern - not just on the field, but more importantly, off it too. No amount of priority picks will make a difference on that front.

The AFL have to take into account the young players they have developing, the academy players they have access to, the injured talent who will come back and any potential value they will receive if they trade anybody out. That's what they did for Melbourne.

Performance wise they qualify in that they are not showing an upwards trend but again you have to factor in injuries and those coming up through the ranks.

The AFL need to help them out by encouraging a decent coaching setup and looking at their facilities.

Giving them extra talent at the top end will do nothing for their main problems, but if you fix those problems AND give them extra top end talent, they will create a talent imbalance as they have done with GWS.

Lots of young players getting games at Brisbane, they just need to nurture that talent the right way.

Just on your sig, when exactly was Australia great?

Every time I take a look or a trip overseas and see some of the problems others have and think 'right, this isn't such a bad place, stop ya whinging ODN'.

To be fair their last premiership was 13 years ago and has no bearing on where the club is at now. However IMO the afl should take the priority pick completely off the table, or at least have clear rules as to when/how a club qualifies. None of this arbitrary "at our discretion" BS.

Brisbane got lazy and did nothing to improve their facilities or the code when they were successful. They had some very big sponsors in their corner who would have done anything for them, but they just expected it would continue. The sponsors have long since parted and now they are crying poor because of their facilities, and players not wanting to stay etc etc. Where is their Academy? GWS have been in the comp two minutes and they already have the next generation of recruits ready to go, as does Sydney. Queensland seem to waiting for everyone to do something for them. Brisbane picked up Robinson and Bell for nothing and also snared Christensen, Beams, Bastinec to help develop their younger players like Scache. I suggest that perhaps they need to have a look at their coaching staff. Gold Coast has been a disaster with all of their off field rubbish. Why they spent millions on Carmichael Hunt beggars belief.

They need help with player retention most of all, you put Yeo, Dochrerty and Polec back into that Brisbane side and it would be a considerably better team

Yeah, nah. Can't have a Collingwood supporter as PM. Just goes against nature.

No. Look at the players who were struggling at Carlton under poor systems, who are resurgent now.

Doc had the attitude and work rate to show something but as good as he was last year, he is twice as good this year. Plus he has passion for our jumper.

Polec was awful at Brisbane and he has been hot and cold last year and this as Port have been inconsistent.

The AFL paid Hunt and Folau. It was all about PR.

Agree with all you have said, but the same could also be said about us leading up to when things turned to shit 15 years ago.

Most teams that end up bottom get there as a direct result of stuffing up majorly in some way.

They are getting smashed out of the centre. How about focusing on that to start with. We have lost quite a few players but it did not seem to have hindered us this season. If they can't hold on to their players then tough.....It's almost as bad as asking the Australian people to vote back into power the lunatics that lumbered us with 500 billion worth of debt.

Very different circumstances. We had an old list and then got kicked out of the draft copped a million dollar fine and relied on recycled players for two years.
We came within a couple of days of having the doors closed. Interestingly the AFL did not seem to perturbed about it. If it had been the drug cheats they probably would provided personal guarantees. They get 12 players back and will also be rewarded with the number 1 draft pick.

If anyone is having a bit of a down day, do yourselves a favour and head over to the Richmond Trades/Free Agency thread.

A few gems from the last half dozen pages:
  • Ty Vickery should get them an end-of-first-round compensation pick as a Free Agent.
  • Trading Cotchin and Deledio should get them 4x first round picks.
  • They've got a "big fish" midfielder on the hook.
  • That player could be Michael Barlow. Seems a good fit for a team in contention...
  • It could also be Lachie Neale.
  • Maybe Brad Crouch.
  • Ollie Wines re-signed with Port, but could be traded. Vickery should be enough, they need a tall forward/ruckman...
  • Back to Barlow, definitely Barlow.
Then two pages of abuse directed at each other. And I do mean abuse, it's gotten pretty nasty...

The whole exercise has brightened my afternoon :D

Not really- who's to blame for us having the old list, or not trying to rebuild through the draft instead of recycling players, or having just about the crappiest training facilities in the AFL at one point? Fact is, like Brisbane we held stagnated after a period of success because of our own decisions - we were already stuffed before we got pinged for cheating.
