What a campaigner

Ollie Henry ‘absolutely prepared’ for bold play

7NEWS Melbourne’s Tom Browne believes Jack Henry is “confident no club would take him” if he walked to the preseason draft.
It is a bold play that is becoming increasingly likelly, given the impasse between Collingwood and Geelong.
The Pies and Cats are still at loggerheads over Henry’s worth after the youngster requested a trade out of Collingwood to play with his brother Jack at Geelong.
Collingwood are not satisfied with Geelong’s offer of pick 25, likely wanting another pick involved.
We would. Out of spite.

Maynard sharpening his elbows as we speak.
Stupid campaigner trying to get to a team he isn't good enough to play in.

Regardless of whether he played for Collingwood and has previously been drafted, once Henry voluntarily nominates for the draft, he needs to be bound by the rules of the draft. The rules of the draft prohibit draft tampering - by stating that he wants to only go to one club in a draft amounts to draft tampering.

If he heads to the PSD we'd be stupid not to.

Wont cost us a pick and we'll trade him in for a 1st next year instead.
Doubt he’ll even get past a canter on the park let alone play if that happened.

Time to cut him loose. Acting like a Rockstar and he hasn’t even got a regular support gig yet.

He’s almost saying this without saying this.

Which bit is tampering? He simply didn't entertain other clubs wanting to talk to him. Ball didn't say to them, "I'm only going to Collingwood".
The other draft tampering bit by Geelong is not offering a fair trade and offering unders. Pick 38, then pick 25, obviously trying to rip Collingwood off. And Henry's and his managements antics.

FYI,
This was a Recruitment officer on another board on this subject.
in effect....
a Club is not to enter into a contract, agreement, arrangement or understanding with a Player, any written or verbal communication between the Club and that Player (or Player’s manager) with respect to the potential recruitment of such Player by the Club must specify that such communication is non-binding and compliant

I understand your point but every player who elects to enter a draft would have some basic expectations they must meet. He can't just turn up, not put in and expect to be paid. We already know his training standards and if we didn't think he was being professional we simply refer him to the AFL with the accusation he's not acting in good faith and meeting his contract obligations.

Didn’t know there was a trigger (AFL reporting) for that.

Still could act the part doing bare minimal to get a pay cheque in the Magoos?

Interesting that Browne is now saying not that we wouldn’t do the deal with 25 being the compensation, but that we want “another pick involved”.
I think 25 and 33 (from Port) gets the deal done.

Yes it is unders but it is better than nothing.

25 and 33 will be useful for live draft trading if we want to move up for a certain player or convert the picks to future 2nd rounders.
