Oppo Camp Oliver Henry (Traded to Geelong 2022)

Just moving back on topic.

To me, Henry is looking like one of their better players after the first 2 games of the season. We always knew he was better than Bruhn. The Cats just didn't want the Pies to have their 1st pick. He was never staying at GWS.

I have no doubt as a contender that troubles Geelong, they were not going to put us in a better position. And Henry and his manager played their role in executing this.
Woe! A conspiracy theory! This thread just keeps on giving, the polar opposite of Henry's contribution when dialogue is required.

They didn’t give us a better pick ( I’m not convinced seven or eight spots in the draft order makes a lot of difference anyway) ...but they had to give away cooper Stephens at the eleventh hour to deliver Tom Mitchell to us . So it’s not as if they didn’t pay up to the equivalent of what we were originally asking for.
They didn’t pay up. We wanted a 1st round pick and deserved it. They gave it to GWS early so it was no longer in play. 8 spots is significant. Why else did we hold out until the last minute to accept the trade when they added Stephens. Was Stephens even a loss for Geelong?? They recruited Bruhn and were gunning for Clark, so not sure they had high hopes him.

Henry could have kicked 3 or 4 goals against us. He was under pressure but kept at it.
Kicked 2 goals against the Blues, but looked to keep working hard up the ground. Took some nice contested marks.

Still haven’t seen anything from Bruhn, both at GWS and now at Geelong, to suggest he is a better prospect than Henry.

😂. But you don’t think it’s at least considered? Similar to other sports where they don’t trade players to direct threats. NBA, Premier League etc. always happens. Maybe a little more difficult to do in the AFL, but I’m sure clubs think about it.

I don't call those with opposing views to me dickheads just because they have opposing views.

It's funny how quickly people resort to the ad hominen attack when they encounter someone they disagree with. Usually happens by about out the third response online.

I’m slightly annoyed that he has got a bit of the ball and kicked a few cheap goals during his honeymoon period but he’s still a petulant sooky mummy’s boy with an aversion to hard work and team-first tasks like chasing and tackling.

I’m glad he’s gone - we don’t want any self-important Drama Queens at Collingwood.

For me, everyone after about 2010 in all spheres of political and cultural life became dickheads. It seems to have coincided with our last premiership. I also have a degree, so thought I'd put my line in the sand. Also, Oliver Henry.

Tom Mitchell on a subsided salary is easily worth giving up 8 spots for.

I have no views on Bruhn because I don’t really care but you’re probably right on that front.

Tom Mitchell was coming to Collingwood anyway. We were using our pick 27 (from memory) on him. So, it wasn’t that we needed to trade with Geelong to get him. In the end we just didn’t need to use one of those picks in the high 20s

...which we took to the draft instead of spent.

Geelong knew we could get michell direct and we were prepared to walk henry to the draft rather than accept 25 and nothing else. They were forced to make it work at the eleventh hour.

Mitchell is indelibly linked to the henry deal. He’s the steak knives that made pick 25 palatable.

Before he played a game, Bruhn soared into immortality by being the Saddest Little Draftee Ever.

I have no degree, so I’m in a position to confirm that you don’t have to have a degree to confirm that Ollie is a dickhead.

I don’t think you can lump all US Sports together on that front either. Baseball stands alone for being easy to create meaningful stats for. As mentioned in Moneyball, it’s an individual sport masquerading as a team one.

Basketball, American Football and Ice Hockey are much more complex.

I don't know anything about Ice Hockey, but basketball and American Football stats are much more useful than AFL ones, because really similar plays get repeated so much more often than in AFL.

We are Undefeated since he left for Geelong and Geelong has not won a Game
