Likely to be a win for gold coast in the end, they will get their 2 first rounders and on potential he is worth it. Potential being the keyword ... will he come up after 2 years out of the game? Will he ever be the super star he was feted to be? He was meant to be the second best footballer to come into the system in a generation ... the first being Jack Martin also of the Gold Coast .. hmmm ... that one is another 'potential' exercise.

If we had a couple of first rounders to spare I would consider rolling the dice ... of course we haven't got 2 first rounders and chances are within days we wont even have one. That works for me though, Prestia seems less fragile than O'Meara even if he has not been handicapped with the title of one of the best in a generation. Prestia is worth pick 6.

It is a good sign for the rest of us, it is starting to happen, the drift of top draft choices received from the compromised drafts away from the expansion clubs back to seed the rest of the competition ... give it a couple of years and GWS will be forced either through the cost of contracts for guns or the desire of players to go home to start shedding more and more very talented senior footballers.

The only teams that can consistently pay unders to keep their guns are teams winning premierships ... nods* at Hawthorn and Geelong.

Don't know if this has been superseded by more recent updates, but Essendon would be the worst possible scenario from a Gold Coast perspective, given they would potentially be able to grab him with the first pick of the PSD with GCS walking away empty-handed, right? Don't like seeing clubs get screwed.

AKA Essendon have offered the most cash, which the agent would get a percentage of.

Saints and Hawks must be offering unders salary-wise.

**** me, you'd think the person writing tweets for a big radio station like SEN would know the difference between his and he's. Maybe they outsourced their twitter account to their talkback callers.

I saw a Brian Lake interview that was on AFL website last week. When he was asked about O'mera he said he believed he would go to a team that plays at the MCG because of his knees and stated "you pull up much sorer playing at Etihad."
Told you.
Club knew 6 months ago. He was just waiting for the official ok from his girlfriend. (sook).

Obviously they all still have a fair bit of their careers to play out, but have any of the Suns' most lauded draftees/pre-selected players reached their potential at the club or elsewhere? O'Meara, Martin, David Swallow, Harley Bennell, Josh Caddy, Brandon Matera, Sam Day, Seb Tape and Josh Toy were all hyped as elite gun talents, yet have all been various levels of disappointing so far, either through injury or just not being as good as advertised.

Breust, this yr first and next yr first for JOM?

Picks will be in the 14-18 range, so not exactly high quality picks, but Breust would be maybe be a goer for them.

Yeah why don't you throw in Gunston and Stratton in while you're at it, no way we give up that much

Well considering they said they want 2 top 10 picks, don't know what else the Hawks could offer them.. 1 first rounder instead? This yrs 1st and Breust?

Suns have said players not picks
That's why I said Breust as well as the picks.

Not sure of what other players they would be willing to trade that the GC would actually want.

Breust won't be traded

As Striker said they want players not picks.

If you want JOM you'll likely have to depart with a player you don't really want to, like when Kennedy was traded as part of the Juddy deal. We absolutely didn't want to trade him, but we had to in order to get the deal done.

Herald Sun:

JAEGER O’Meara has chosen Hawthorn as his destination club.

It is understood Gold Coast was informed today that its prized midfielder has requested a trade to the three-time premiership winning Hawks.

To a team that can fit him in the cap. I've just checked a few threads from 2013 and apparently it's not possible to win the flag and then sign a big name player without cheating.
But we wont win the flag this year ;)

True - Hawks are going to have to run with the standard responses from the same threads that you are referring to - that should get him across the line. Do you think they are going to be paying him 10 mil over 10 years?

No, it will be a 3 or 4 way trade. Hawks hand over picks to someone else, who on forward a player/s to GC.

Will be in the brown and gold for sure. When was the last time a player went to a different club than the one they nominated?

Ahhh yes that is true for all other clubs EXCEPT Hawthorn. Our leaders play for peanuts including our captain who is / will go around 300k next year.
We don't have our players gouge the club for every cent they can get to play. Like two of your players who are around 1 million a year
