Two Cs don't make an A, so I'd have to say no. The first rounder only goes for something of A-grade value, not bits and pieces. Mackay has been around for ages hasn't he? A midfielder, 25yo, played 19 games for a disappointing Adelaide this year... averaged 16 touches. That, to me, is essentially worth nothing. That's a total commodity player. You don't ever EVER pay overs for something that there's 100 of out there. And there is easily 100 other midfielders who can effectively deliver what Mackay does.
I don't know enough about Kerridge to comment, but for our first rounder he'd want to be pretty freakin' great.
If Adelaide are truly desperate, then they need to talk serious footballers. We'd toss our first-plus for Talia, for instance. Are they desperate?

You obviously missed 18 clubs passing on Garlett last year. Bit of online raving about these two doesn't turn them into players with Laidler's or Duigan's personality.

Would have stayed IF he was at a club with two rucks instead of three.
Club tried to turn him into a forward when he's a ruckman.
I reckon he would have been our best ruckman by a long shot if he had been given an extended time to play this role.

Garlett isn't even a midfielder. Played high half forward.
Kreuzer is our best footballer who rucks.
End of story.
They passed on him because of attitude not talent, so he has and always will be a good player.

He had every opportunity to make it his own. Supporters are suddenly acting as though he was only ever a part time ruck during the entirety of his time with us. He was hardly smashing down the door with his form in the VFL - he is nowhere near being better than Kreuz/Warnock, let alone "by a long shot".

Let's say we do bring in Docherty and he finds himself at home in Carlton's best 22 of Half Back. With the stellar seasons that Simpson, Walker and Touhy had in the position, who would you like to see moved up the ground from those 3?
Walker through the middle with Thomas would be awesome.
Could be a broadcasters nightmare if we recruited Dayle Garlett, especially when we play North.
North's Cruize Garlett gets tackled and loses the ball, players fighting for it comes out to Garlett, Dayle not Jeff, one bounce then kicks into an open forward line....here comes the speedster Garlett, Jeffy not Cruize, runs onto the ball, this way that way bamboozles the defender then unselfishly centres the ball back to Garlett, left foot....goal, Dayle I think!!
