Really? The woe is me attitude is so tiresome.

We only traded our way to a flag in '23. We only traded our way to a flag in '10. Sure, we've overpaid in other years and it hasn't worked out. But if you want to land a bargain, you end up with mediocre players who don't improve you list. You end up like Carlton, Essendon, St Kilda etc.

What's the old adage? You've gotta spend money to make money.

We built 2010 predominantly through the draft. Trades to finish off.

But in our position now I got no qualms having a last go at it, but for people to suggest we are a real chance of the wheels falling off in 3 or so years the debate.

Swap Kennedy for Finn???....yeah nah!

Really? I would make that swap without hesitation.

Kennedy played every game this year in a side that was one of the best performed until thankfully derailed by injury. By contrast 22 year old, 4th year player Fin couldn’t secure a spot in our side even when we in the midst of our own injury crisis.

With Perryman coming in and Allan looking the goods as an inside midfielder, Fin is heading into 2025 very much on the outer. And Kennedy has demonstrated far more positional flexibility.

From the Age:

Collingwood, Gold Coast and Port Adelaide remain at an impasse in discussions that would effectively be a three-way deal for Dan Houston to get to the Magpies – which is now his preferred destination – with John Noble and Joe Richards moving to the Suns and Power respectively.

According to sources familiar with discussions, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, Collingwood have offered their future first-round pick and Noble to the Suns for picks 13 and 23, a deal the Suns have rejected.

Collingwood’s plan in securing pick 13 would be to tie it with Joe Richards in a deal with Port for Houston. They want to keep pick 23 to take to the draft.

The Power are unlikely to accept that deal for Houston. The Suns’ interest in negotiating with Collingwood is two-fold: They want to secure Noble, but they also want to provide Collingwood with draft capital to trade to Port for Houston.

Helping Port get a Houston trade completed would then clear the path for the Adelaide club to trade their future first-round pick to the Suns for Jack Lukosius. The AFL have told Port they won’t need special approval to trade their future first pick.

Lukosius is on a contract worth about $2.5 million over the next two years at the Suns – an amount the club is eager to move off their books – but would receive a longer-term contract on fewer dollars per year at the Power.

While there is still a week remaining in the trade window, the longer negotiations stall the more likely it is that Gold Coast open discussions with other clubs, including Carlton, over pick 13 or that North Melbourne, who have the draft capital to trade with Port, enters the negotiations for Houston.

If you were trying to explain "drinking own bath" water to someone, the Gallagher brothers would be a good place to start.
As good as the Beatles?
Throwaway Britpop crap more like it.
I worked in London in 1997, in St John's Wood. They were barred from my pub because they dressed too scruffy.

One of the regulars Mick ran into them at another local (the Crowns maybe? I tried to Google it but half the placed shut down or got renamed) and a very drunk Noel asked Mick what he thought of their music. " 'S alright spose" said Mick and Noel kissed his hand.

All front and shit talk. They could perform well I'm told and it was nice pop but they weren't anything special. They never won lost started or finished a fight the entire 6 months I was in the suburb, so not actual hard men.

So I guess we settle on 13 and 29

Then find a way to upgrade 29 slightly to give to Port?

Because no way Port accepts 13 and Richards alone

Glad we want to keep 23 to take the draft if it all pans out that way.
Pick 13, Richards and maybe a swap of later picks hopefully does the trick.

According to The Age, it seems that Pies are very much the first option for a Houston deal. We are dealing with the Suns and Power, with Blues not yet in the picture. It's only if we can't get a deal done that the Blues may get in.

Nice to hear that we're looking to keep pick 23 for the draft. Not sure if that's possible, but good we are still keen to keep the earliest pick possible, we do need to bring in quality draftees.
