Does anyone know why Robertson is keen on the Pies? (other than being a smart guy)

I know he only played a couple of games this year, but surely there would have been clubs who could have made grander promises to him in terms of game time than us?

I'm not against the move if we're bringing him in as depth, but would be a bit concerned if he's been sold the dream of playing seniors every week. I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep if we missed out.

Wasn’t he in their losing 2023 GF team? So saw us up close on the biggest stage. Perfectly understandable that he’d want to be part of it.

Then we needed a targeted strategy that fixed the issues on our list: some more quality in the midfield to support Nick Daicos and some more quality in the key positions where we have Billy and Dean struggling to hold KPD

I'm sceptical that two half back flankers will address these issues.

Agree Houston is a gun. But I think you are underestimating the importance of JFN to our game style. And Richards was developing very nicely. Players don't need to be AA calibre to be super important to a team

I understand and agree with what you’re saying but if we missed out on Houston but retained JFN, my overriding feeling would be one of disappointment, not joy.
That tells me enough.

I think Noble is pretty good and under rated by many
But the key thing for me is that we can replace him

I loved JFN. His run and dash - always gave 100%
But we saw why he was left out of the finals - which was heartbreaking- as there were aspects of his game that we wanted trusted to others in that kind of heat

Houston is 27 and Perryman on the verge of 26 and both have clean injury histories

Next year we’re nabbing McGuane and will have cap space to go hard for at least 2 25-27 year old RFAs

All while our current youth continue to improve from underneath

I will concede that we will need to address a key back at some stage in the next 2 off seasons for sure

Now we just need our medical department to be on point and ensure no mismanagement of players next year. Need this list to be fit and firing for the entirety of the season.

Mitchell & JDG will be back. Allan showed promise in the last game. We have McGuane the following year.

We've been linked to Tomlinson & Hayes & more recently Robertson.

McStay & Checkers with a full year together

We could pick up a young kp in the draft.

We don't yet know how Dean, Eyre etc may develop with another preseason.

We've picked up Perryman & it looks likely we have just acquired a dual AA HB to add to our list.

36,52,55,58 ( if all the three picks in the 50's drop into the mid to low 40's) do we have enough list spots for all of them ? Or are we better of packaging and moving as high as possible?

Package picks is ideal but we may need to use one on Dev Robertson

SDK is one player we should be monitoring for out of contract next season.

If we can bring in via the free agent market next season Ed Richards and or LDU that would be huge too

Thats mere impossible to have a healthy list through the whole season. Thats footy isn't it. Injuries happen.
