Aleer from GWS nice cheap option, could play on the gorillas and free up moore. Only gets a game when they have an injury would not cost much and suit our needs

I am not sure why you think he would not cost much. Aleer was the No.15 pick in the 2021 draft and is tracking extremely well. While I would love to be able to get him, there is no way they are giving him away for any bargain price. Would have to be our future first-rounder and I really don't want to go to the well with that too many times. Or possibly if a best-22 player decided they wanted to go to GWS. Otherwise, I don't expect he's gettable.

As to Oliver, a big NO. While he is a super footballer, you DO NOT invite that sort of circus into your club if you can help it. He has way too much baggage.

Isaac Cumming and Cam zuurhar would be handy.

They brought up during the syd game that McDonald has only won one 1 v 1 contest all season. Not great reading IMO. I want my KPF winning those.
I just want a young KPP on the list that I’m genuinely excited about him playing for us
I’ll take one of McKay / Curnow / TDK
I’ll take one of Croft / JUH / etc etc

Etc

I’m all for Oliver if it can be done. Here’s an opportunity to get back on one for the Grundy deal.

Melbourne can say what they want, but they clearly have one of the worst player welfare standards and culture in the AFL. Oliver is a pure footballer who had a hard time and was thrown to the wolves. If there’s any chance we can get a player the quality as him on a discount both capital and salary cap as Melbourne would be paying some, we should be all over it

I haven't seen much of him, but from what I've seen over the last two games, I think he might go off from here. He's bloody talented.
His tatts aren’t cool enough for the Pies.

In hindsight Oliver’s season was always going to be tough. You have to be super fit to be a midfielder in the AFL and he has clearly come in underdone. Even injured players get a huge amount of conditioning into them but Oliver was awol for a lot of the pre-season.
If he’s genuinely getting over his issues then surely he will be fit again before the 2025 season which could be a bonus for whoever has him

Nah... I don't want McKay or Curnow. Their goals would dry up with us as the Ump's wouldn't pay anything because the frees weren't there to begin with.

Does anybody have access to Champion data? It was reported the other day that Curnow/ McKay have kicked the most goals from frees & that they are both the length of the Flemington straight in front of 3rd, and a significant % of the overall goals were from frees. I wanted to know how much exactly

If he's over his issues and Dee's thought he was worth the ludicrous contract & salary they're paying him, they should probably stick with him.

And if he's not over his issues, Dee's can keep him on that basis too. We don't need that type of problem at our club & I can't see how he fits into the good character type of person Fly wants at our club.

Getting rid of Goodwin would be the first place I'd start at the MFC.

No to Oliver. Unless Melbourne kick in 350K and accept a 2nd rounder, in which case I still don't want him, as them accepting that would speak volumes.

Zurhaar an interesting prospect. Could be a very good player in a good system. Averaging 1.4 goals per game in 2024 in a shithouse team. Is he any good at stints through the midfield? Him and DeGo rotating 50/50 is enticing if so. If we are slowly replacing our outgoing players (retirement), Wilbur may only have a few years left, and can be shuffled elsewhere due to his versatility. Elliot also close to the end. Worth a look IMO.

Cumming I'm very interested in as a UFA. Battle too in prep for Howe's impending retirement.

That's 3 free agents that could be savvy list management. You'd just want to be very careful re cap, and offer reasonable but not godfather offers to any of them. If any of the above are chasing the biggest pay cheque available you leave them on the table. Ideally, one or two of them would take a lower offer from the Pies than elsewhere to play on the biggest stage for the biggest team in a contending team under Fly.
