Would love Ryley Sanders to be coaxed to a place he can play inside mid. Not worried about Tassie - he’s lived in Melbourne since he was 16 and it’s on us to build the life for him. If he wants to stay, he’ll stay.
McKercher’s a childhood Roos fan and was pretty keen to go. He accepted at 15 or 16 he’d move. So plenty of time. Wouldn’t shock me if he stays.Honestly, if Sanders and McKercher aren’t in the Tassie team when they roll out in their first year, their recruiting team has completely stuffed up.

Ryley’s family is big in Tasmanian football so that might lure him home, although they’re from Launceston and it’s not hard to fly from there to Melbourne. His brother lives in Adelaide and plays SANFL.
We just have NFI when it comes to selecting key position players. So frustrating...Shannon Neale pick 33 Geelong (2020 draft) could be anything & looks really promising IMO
21 yo, 203 cms, 101 kg
key forward / ruck
played 5 games for Geelong in last 2-years
super athletic, moves like a gazelle ..strong athletics background
Hiney selected Caleb Poulter at # 30 and Liam McMahon #31, the latter as our fledging tall in that draft year. The following talls, still on an AFL list, were picked further back in that same draft year and, at least 3 have a promising trajectory.
#33 Shannon Neale (Gee 5 games to-date)
#39 Josh Eyre (Ess 0 games; now SSP for PIes)
#40 Samson Ryan (Rich 15 games)
#48 Henry Smith (Bris: 0 games)
#49 Ollie Lord (PtA 13 games; excellent in a finals game last year)

look at the talent & age profile of Gee's forwards (senior team & vfl) and compare that to whom we have running aroundShannon Neale, not as good as Hawkins or Cameron and never will be. They can't replace them and that's why the empire is over.
As you'd surely know, it's not uncommon for Tasmanians to voluntarily leave the state even if they can stay at home. Colby, by all accounts, likes it in Melbourne so create the reasons to stay and he will. It shouldn't be hard to market Melbourne over Hobart. He accepted at 15 or 16 he'd have to move when the Tassie team still looked like a pipe dream that the AFL would never accept.
And if that happens, fleece out a high pick that they'll be forced to trade.Plus they will both be offered a ridiculous amount of money (+ probably extra promotional money as local boys) that no other club will be able to compete with.
It’s a no brainer. Head home get an obscene amount of money.
Kidding yourself. They’ll both be given godfather offers and unless their teams are contending they’ll both grab said offers with both hands. As you'd surely know, it's not uncommon for Tasmanians to voluntarily leave the state even if they can stay at home. The easiest way to retain him is to point out that Melbourne offers more than Tassie. I doubt he leaves North until at least Tassie comes in and even then, I don't think he does.
Ryley might leave sooner if Bevo plays him out of position.
Tassie won't be able to hand out godfather offers to everyone and I hope they target star recruits more broadly than just Tasmanians.Kidding yourself. They’ll both be given godfather offers and unless their teams are contending they’ll both grab said offers with both hands.
The AFL will allow the Devils to give massive sign-on bonuses to existing players beyond the cap.Tassie won't be able to hand out godfather offers to everyone and I hope they target star recruits more broadly than just Tasmanians.
Sorry to intrude but he'll be heading to Tassie the second they form according to my uncle who does some work for your mob. You guys were very keen on Hardeman but Norf pounced on him a bit earlier than expected apparently. Wouldn't surprise me if you try and prise him out of there if he's not getting opportunities in a year or two.McKercher’s a childhood Roos fan and was pretty keen to go. Eh, Tassie has some hurdles to clear first. Still got a minor building project to complete and if it’s like a standard Tasmanian government special, it will be lucky to have functioning grass in time for 2028.Sorry to intrude but he'll be heading to Tassie the second they form according to my uncle who does some work for your mob. Also Mckercher went for the Blues as a kid, said as much in a few interviews with Twomey. North have it mentioned on his player profile too for some reason so childhood loyalty won't be a factor I'd imagine.
You just have to live in Tassie, that’s all. It’s a no brainer. Head home to be part of history for your state and get an obscene amount of money for doing so.

Yeah but, if they’re any good they could also be well paid and not have to live in TasmaniaPlus they will both be offered a ridiculous amount of money (+ probably extra promotional money as local boys) that no other club will be able to compete with.

If that happens then the players should be finding a new manager......Also depends if their clubs can get them to sign past the Tassie inclusion

I agree with you. I think Tassie are going to have massive issues with retention and recruitment. You just have to live in Tassie, that’s all.
Is there a less appealing place for a young AFL player to live, even having grown up there?
