Outside of McStay and Moore, where do you see the improvement coming in 2025?
Checker and McStay playing together less injuries easier draw a better and hungry attitude from the start of the season
Also an natural improvement in our younger player Allan
Parker DeMattia Jaith
Steene and Smitt
Hopefully we can also add Perryman and a couple of others like Peatling Kennedy
Lord or Stone these guys are not world beaters bit if nothing else give us better depth
Out forward line is on paper very hand to match up on
our Defence is solid even though we lack another quality tall and or mid field is solid when also have one of the best ruckman in the competition
We should be very bullish about next year
Hopefully Leppa can also improve our draft hand

I'd rather use a late second rounder in this years draft and draft a KPP with higher potential and lower wages to develop behind Mihocek/McStay. Will come good at the right age as well when Mihocek/McStay retire.
There won't be any quality KF"s at our second round pick. If there was, I'm not sure we have a good record of taking quality KF"s that late. I'm not against your theory but it's a stab in the dark compared to lord. If we had a top 25 pick, there's so good potential around that mark

Mihocek barely got going, JDG and Mitchell were off their usual standard when out there and played just 20 games combined, IQ was about 70% of his capacity, Steele took 20 weeks to find his groove, Shoota was in the same boat as IQ and about 70% of what he’s capable of and lastly the Jaicos move looked a winner late year. You then have the unknown of youth coming through and new recruits. I’m sure there’ll be a further dip from some of our elder statesmen, but there’s a lot of scope to grow in 2025.

Not necessarily. They need Houston's money off the books to help with Lukosius, and they probably need the pick they get for Houston too.

Word was suns happy with a future pick for points next year.

If he wants to go play at half back then he should go to Port

It’s kind of a simple decision really if he’s looking for midfield minutes on where he should be going.

Wines not getting any younger. They might be selling that to him. Plus boak could be retiring.

GC will take a points pick to get Lukocious’ contract off the books. My guess is it’s the Lord pick. Houston’s gone as long as they get the right trade price and the contract they’re offering Perryman suggests to me they’re confident in getting that price out of the market. I’m guessing it’ll be North involving pick 2 in some way.

That’s a big question!

Having one half decent first possession mid on the park in addition to Nick would be good for a start. I think we suffered hugely from putting everything on Nick’s shoulders in the midfield for such long stretches in the season. Jordy and Titch were injured for a while and underdone when they weren’t. None of our other options quite worked out and it had an impact on our defence’s inability to set up for the intercept (Moore included as you mentioned).

Also think our forward line had too much personnel change and essentially role changes. We had Schultz doing our KPF running patterns at some point. McStay makes a huge difference there and we gain flexibility with the two ruck usage. Him and Checkers have barely played together and our small forwards should love that setup once we get used to it.

Can see Sidey thriving in the run with role. Crisp at HB with Jaicos both spending more time there and some on a wing will help if we get that extra kid in the off season. Crisp really is amazing in his versatility, can play HB intercept like he did years ago.

Also a lot of it will come to coaching tweaks. I think we all recognised that we struggled to hold our leads in some critical games (Freo, Swans, Essendon and even some of our close wins like Carlton’s). Think we took too long to accept that teams had worked that out and umpires were stamping the time management out of the game.

Someone like Allan could surprise (I’ve been a believer) and Richards too if he stays, and other recruits could bring a bit of freshness when we start to feel stale.

I think Wil Parker is a big one - He was literally still playing cricket until the end of preseason last year, and still looked quite good at times.

I think his level of performance is one of the things they're counting on to be able to cover the loss of Noble at half back.

It's very hard to play at AFL level if you've missed a few years of football. What he was able to do was special. Basically just needs to build up a bit this pre season and we'll have a quality player

Agree, we beat the Lions twice, Port the only time we met them, and could easily have beaten the Swans the second time we played them - we've got the fundamentals in-place, just need a bit of a refresh, some luck with injuries and some development of our younger players

I think we have a great opportunity if we position ourselves right to grab both a KPD + KPF in one draft
Even better shuey but lord would be just as easy to develop as a young 18yo. The other question is at what pick will we get one worth developing. Hanging your hopes on later KPP isn't the answer just for the sake of getting them in the draft.

Ultimately, we had a shit start and lost the first three - I'm betting our game plan adjustments didn't work. Then after the bye those ****ing Scott brothers worked out that the way we were defending the ground they could just chip it forward without any risk and play the majority of the game at their end. And that was essentially our season done - despite a great job in the middle getting through with heaps of injuries and then a strong ending.

I think Allan is going to be a star
