There you go strike him off the list then as well! CoD’s list suggests to me that Melican and McGovern are the only options and I can’t see a move for McGovern being realistic.
If Howe goes end of 2025 - I'd be making McGovern an offer - gives you another season or two of quality.

I actually think Howe will play into 2026 if he has a good run of injury in 2025.

That would be nice, but the pool on them will be slim I think. I’ve got Weitering as the only option I certain of. Andrews was never a chance, but just re-signed anyway. The last three I can think of who qualify in terms of tenure are Buckley, McCartin and Melican, but I don’t know their contract statuses (it’s unlikely all three are OOC). I’d be more inclined to poach one by trade.
I could be misinterpreting your comment Sco but Weitering re-signed for six years the other day.

Edit: just saw the other comments

DGB would be OK as a punt.

I think this is classic “it’s better to be young than good” thinking. DGB had significant draft capital invested in him, then the Hawks paid up for Battle and Barrass because DGB was a spud.

Would wait for draft night to do that. Those mid 50's picks could all become mid 40 picks , which will look more valuable as trade assets.

Do we have to wait until draft night to try to upgrade the picks?

Thought Leppa said we had one spot available?

You don't know what list he's talking about though. If he's talking DFA, he may just be saying 1 senior list spot available. Ithink it's likely he's talking just senior list, as he said they still have some hard decisions to make - re the uncontracted guys.

Eg. we can add one as DFA - but we may still add another as a rookie later.
