Why does any player take a free agency offer? Dogs cap is bursting, they’re not going to be able to get close to the offers he’ll get imo.I'm confident we'll get him
I reckon we'll have more than enough cap to get them both in (assuming we even have interest in Richards)
I'd love Richards I just have no idea if we have interest in him and I also don't see why he wouldn't re-sign with the Dogs?
In that 10 possessions a game type of way ?I ****ing love JHF, what a player
Pretty sure that in his situation he’s free to knock back a contract and delist himself via his contract expiring if he chooses to do so.You'd presume even St Kilda wouldn't be big enough pricks to someone who would've qualified as an FA anyway, to not delist him so that he could actually get to where he wanted to go, so I doubt it would've mattered, but it's nice to not have to depend on clubs like St Kilda to act rationally.
Every chance we’d take him on as an SSP rookie if he doesn’t get picked up via free agency and we have the list spot, but I’m with Jen, it sounded very much like it was one senior list spot available from the way Leppa was talking about it.I reckon it will. Otherwise we would have kept Eyre
One of four players competition-wide to average 20+ disposals and kick 25+ goals. Pretty handy! In that 10 possessions a game type of way ?
I view him as much better cover for Elliott, Checkers and McStay(via covering Checkers) than we had this year.He is undersized (188cm).
I would much prefer a big power forward that can also play in the ruck when required. I was imagining a tall forward around 200cm. We were looking to replace McStay/Checkers when they are injured.
At least with Hayes, (only 194cm) you could see improvement on his previous output due to age and bad run with injuries.
Membrey I view as a poor man's Elliott or WHE.
Would love Ed at the club. When he moved to the mids during this year it added a much needed spark to the Dogs midfield. With Libba and Treloar in the twilight of their careers he may hang around to take their spot full time, or if Bevo keeps dicking him around and we promise him a full time mid role we could get him.I'm confident we'll get him

IF the Pies' off-field problems are growing larger by the day ... THEN
The Trade Period is over but Sliding Doors is still in top form ... and Damo's got plenty to saywww.afl.com.au
Yeah. It's just the FA factor. And he did qualify as a FA in two ways: 10 years at Saints and previously delisted. But it looks like tfor both of those, that window is only available during trade week. And he'll need to be frshly delisted by the Saints - which has asumedly been already agreed to, you'd hope - otherwise he'll be a PSD play. The principle is that players out of contract can’t just walk to another club if their current club wants them. They need to be traded or take themselves to the draft.

True. But that assumes his decision will come down to highest bidder. He may be the type to value success, crowds, exposure, playing alongside Nick etc more than the biggest payday.Every club with cap room will be making him monster offers that we’d be unlikely to be able to match.
Richards is the one imo, suits our style of play more too with his speed and agility.

Why? Do we have a link?I'd like to think I'm not so cynical as to think it's all about money
I'd like to think LDU will take less than he could elsewhere to play for us
Having said that, it would still take a lot to pry him out of North given they also have a shitload of cap space to force a trade
Damian Barrett is a knob. Trying to make a story out of little in terms of our off-field changes but giving no credit at all for our trade success. He says that Port's loss of Houston was the worst trade in history. So, Damo, if its that terrible a deal for Port, wouldn't it be reasonable to conclude that the Pies nailed it? But no, Damo can't bring himself to say anything positive at all about Collingwood. Miserable bstard."Leppa blowing up at everyone".........??

Nah he's bang averageTime for everyone to be angry with me again
Weideman?
We paid a fair price for Houston it all just went to Gold Coast somehow.Damian Barrett is a knob. And as far as the off-field stuff goes, I reckon we're now in the resolution phase. Unhappy people have left, replacements are being appointed. Our "back office" is going to be much more stable for season 2025 than it was for season 2024.
It’s not all about money, but if you compare Norf to the dogs in terms of cap room, you’d expect any offer for LDU to be able to be comfortably matched or at least be close to the mark. With the state of the dogs cap Richards could easily be getting offers of $200k+ per year more than the dogs are able to offer. On a long term deal he could be potentially giving up well over $1m to stay put, even if he doesn’t go for the highest offer. Not sure many players would leave that kind of money on the table in the name of loyalty to a club, given clubs don’t show that kind of loyalty to their players as a general rule.I'd like to think I'm not so cynical as to think it's all about money

If he reckons that the Houston trade is the worst in history he’d be well advised to take a look through Fremantles trade history.Damian Barrett is a knob. Sorry to break it to you, but Murray passed away a while agoTime for everyone to be angry with me again
Weideman?
If he’s offered unders North will matchWell no, but the point is that often you do take unders at better clubs due to other advantages
McRae‘s gone, Damo’s called it."Leppa blowing up at everyone".........??
