Yeah I know some of you will be weirded out by me saying this but Membrey will prove as a very astute pick up for the next couple of years.
He clearly fell out of favour with Lyon for some reason, things like this happen and I reckon for once we will be the beneficiaries of it.
Lyon has a history of falling out with players who get picked up by Collingwood and go on to win flags.
A brief history but none the less a history.

An astute pick up and one that fils an obvious need - was surprised realizing he was a year a younger than Checkers, so a two year deal for a forward that's; 1 always been a consistent goal kicker, and 2 historically been very durable across his career, just seems a tidy bit of business imo.
He kicked 30 this year, which would have had him level with Bobby as our leading goalkicker - not too shabby at all.
He'll potentially kick more in a more attacking side in 2025.

It is really annoying seeing new articles just casually skipping over the fact that we still have 3 picks in this year's draft, which can all come into the 40's after the bidding. Which in the hine era , is actually better than having first and second rounder. So we could end up with Houston, perryman, membrey and 3 potential 200 game starters all in one off season.

What are you on about. Most here believe Membrey is an astute pick up. Now you're just saying shit for the sake of it
flipping weird call right? I don’t think there’s been more than maybe one or two who’ve questioned this as a pick up, vast majority are thrilled with it.

In before we get people here complaining it’s a two year deal……

But seriously it’s a big show of confidence in him and I love it. Don’t think he’ll be stuck in the ressies. Welcome mate
He’s only 30 a 2 year deal is perfectly fine.

Good pick up, will be interesting to see our best Fwd line next year. Can't see Membrey, Checkers, McStay and Cox all in the fwd line together. At least we have a bit more injury cover now if 1 or 2 go down.
Agree, but you might find three of them in the forward line and one of them on the bench!

I think Cox will be the one that will make way for Membrey. As we can't play them all as been noted by many and our forwardline probably looks better if you substitute cox for membrey.

So who seconds rucks?

Has membrey done that? Maybe but of mcstay/membrey. I feel DC can carry most of the load.

They’d be horribly irresponsible to have McStay ruck after an ACL

Membrey is only 188cm so I’d be staggered if he went up in the ruck

My guess is that maybe Hosk loses his spot?

Houston for Noble
Perryman for Lipinski
Membrey for Hosk

They’re my guesses but really not sure (outside Noble of course)

I’d have said the same thing coming immediately off the injury this year, but with the extra strength and conditioning under his belt this preseason he should be fine. ACL as a general rule isn’t a ruckman injury, that’s a PCL. And plenty of rucks have come back fine from knee recos, most notably Max Gawn who had 2 ACLs by the time he was 20 and then went on to become the best ruckman of his generation.

I’d have no problem with Cameron shouldering the bulk of the ruck work and then McStay chopping out in the forward half and Frampton chopping out in the defensive half of the ground.

Yeah that’s probably the better set up

McStay maybe taking a handful or so of forward ruck contests should be ok
