who made you the judge and jury plunton man ? if you had any idea on the matter, which u obviously dont, you would know that Prior is being very modest in the Border Mail about his chances. ive been told by a very good "sauce" that he has had direct contact from both West Coast and the Gold Coast. so cut the bloke some slack. his last 2 seasons have been outstanding in a very very ordinary side.

Ha - direct contact is a very big thing. Everyone I know has direct contact to people in an AFL club....so what? Getting recruited by one is a completely different matter. And he that won't happen!!!!

There a far better players running around the bush then him and also in the state leagues why would u pick Prior up when say for instance you could pick up Dan Leslie who can play forward or back and he is a far better player then Prior.

think about what your sayin u peanut. this is the exact reason why he fought so hard to get out of his raiders contract, so he can go to the next level (ie-state league) and show his stuff ! yes there would be some good forwards in the state comps, but an AFL club would be looking at him in a horses-for-courses situation - a young, strong, full forward who has kicked alot of goals in the last few years. if he goes well at east perth, which he should, it wouldnt surprise me to see him picked up as a mature age rookie. good luck to the bloke :thumbsu:

Prior is a very solid player in the O & M and will hold his own in the WAFL. Sydney rookie listed him as an 18yr old potential key forward and then delisted him 12 months later for 2 reasons. He is to short and to slow to hold down a key position in any AFL side...........
I think his temprement will also be his downfall. Will be homesick within 12 months and be back playing at an O & M club.

Prior CAN"T play for another club in the O&M until at least 2012 - remember, he's contracted at Raiders still. He can only play at a higher level then O&M.

Check out the AFL Canberra thread - O&M copping a bit of a bagging.

i wouldn't be too worried bout it. The only post that really has anything to say is the following one posted by codola.

Speaking on behalf of the BMFC coach, he believes BMFC would beat Albury by approx 6 goals if played down at Manuka oval, if played up in Albury BMFC would win by 10 Goals. O&M is a very weak comp and if BMFC were to play in the O&M comp they would not have lost a game and no team would have got within 6 goals of them. Our reserves would have pushed their 1st grade.

I think you'll find "codola" is an ex-border football tragic & he's taking the p!ss outta of their coach and Albury. His comment is kind of funny really, he suggests Belconnen would not only beaten albury, but beat them convincingly regardless of where it was played. And to top it off to say their 2's would've pushed Albury's ones. Absolute Gold, but i'd say this bloke is a bit of a wally;)!

Further to that, Prior can only play in a State League (WAFL, SANFL, etc.) for the next two seasons, and it can't be the VFL. If he goes to a league below State League, or a league in Victoria (except AFL), his contract with Raiders comes back into play.

Having signed with East Perth he is tied to them until October 31 next season, no matter what happens, unless they transfer his contract to another State League club.

Strong rumour the Nolan bros (sons of Mick) may be with the Rovers in 2010 after multiple premierships with Heidelberg.

Apparently they both told Heidelberg at the start of this year it'd be their last year (and they'd head back to Wang), but until they've signed I'd have my reservations about it happening..

They'd be boom recruits though - Danny's won a couple of b&f's at Heidelberg (maybe a league medal as well), and in my opinion would be in the top 5 on-ballers in the O&M if he ended up there.. Dale is a super athletic 6 foot 5 key position player who can play at either end. In a GF 3-4yrs ago he took 12 marks in the last quarter and ended up with 20 for the match! Both have been revered as 2 of the genuine guns of the Diamond Valley (now Northern League) for the past 5yrs or so, but the depth of competition isn't as strong as O&M.. Though I'd love to see Heidelberg take on Albury!

So would I. Fact is AFL scouts have been watching him all year and were there again on Sunday. His performance would've only enhanced his chances.

heard on the grape vine that Joel Mackie might be on the move. surely this couldnt be the case. possibly interstate

This is the first I've heard of this rumor. But surely this would not be the case. Joel has already played with four clubs in the last three years, would've thought four clubs would be more than enough for most people to play with in their entire careers. But I guess you just don't know, he might be heading back to the SANFL.

sydney swans rookie list????

Richmond rookie list ??? would be interestin to know if spargo is tryin to get him to the club that ultimately shafted him, and by doing so lose another of his star players. id hope he would put his interests aside to get this bloke a chance at the top level. but then again he's only one of a number of blokes who probably deserve a chance.
Or ill throw this one up, its from left field - wodonga raiders...watch this space

As I stated two months ago, Joel has been watched all year by Sydney and scouts from two Melb clubs. If he was to leave Albury, my money would be on Sydney.

thanku pluton man lappin retired coz he has kids and he is happy were he is so shut ya mouth or ill blade u

MacGyver needs to get his facts correct before putting things on this forum. Lappin will NOT coach anywhere in 2010.

Clearly both you parrots need to put a lid on it, Lappin was already active in recruiting for a Cairns side before the North job superseeded it. So you are both wrong on two counts. Especially you opertunest, Neck Up.

Spot on call MacG, but i must say after catching one of your episodes on ch10 sunday arvo, you dont quite have the mystique you carried in the 80s!

Also side note; Prior was planning to play WAFL in 2010 after said WAFL club approached him in Darwin, just before he phantomed on the Wanderers before their finals series. Creatures of habit those phantoms.

Though I'd love to see Heidelberg take on Albury!

A wise sage on several Big Footy forums TP.

Would agree the prospect of an O&M Tigers v NFL Tigers clash would be salivating however Heidelberg's post G/F player "outs" may have reduced their bragging power. Surprised Albury didn't get wind of Brad Eaton's move to the border - super player & super bloke. Very big "in" for Lavvy.

Interested in your views on the current "cash splash" in the GV league, three sides in particular. Will have to sell a lot pies and beer to cover outgoings.

Cheers solatium :thumbsu: Every year sides 'splashing the cash' is a widely debated topic in country footy circles, particularly on bigfooty.com.. I've always been of the opinion that if clubs have the cash and can get the players to commit, then good on them. Mooroopna's an interesting case in that they're losing local players (who play for a minimal fee), because they're against the idea of the club paying for high priced recruits. I imagine not all O&M bigfooty readers would check out the GV site, but Mooroopna have signed colossal Heidelberg big man, Mick Gay for a reported $45k, which I'm lead to believe, is true.. Obviously Albury & Yarra splash out the cash as well, but I doubt any O&M players would be on that amount.. And whilst he's an out and out gun, my view is that he's not worth anywhere near that amount and they should've chased a Kayne Pettifer or Daniel Harris instead.. I wonder what they'd be prepared to pay Joel Mackie..

I have been lead to believe with the recent departure of Adam Prior the Raiders have been chasing Tallangatta 'Big Man' Jack 'Porky' Russell. He has lived next door to Prior for the last 12 months and apparently Prior has taken him under his wing, sharing his life experiences and football knowledge with young Jack. I believe they have spoken at length on a range of things from football to love. They have also been seen on numerous occasions kicking the footy in Boonie Doon Park in west Albury with Jack responding well to Prior rigerous training regime and 'Trackside' techniques

If the Raiders manage to pull this recruiting coup off it will go down along side the great pre-season coups with Jack being a ready made replacement for the East Perth bound star.

What exactly does this mean? Was he preparing to move to Cairns or recruiting for someone else?

My understanding is that he was to coach there, when a move was to take place is unbeknown to me but I know he spoke to a prospective player who is moving to Cairns (thats my info from said player from a very strong Melbourne comp). Regardless it's a moot point now I just wanted to back up previous poster on the issue.

I'm interested to hear more about the Nolans heading to Rovers? Did they play at rovers years ago or grow up in Melbourne?

Dan played a few years back - not sure about Dale. May be problematic anyway given they are both Commonwealth Firemen based at Melbourne Airport. No doubt cousins Mick, Joe, Waldo and Aunty Toni Wilson will be pushing hard to get them in Hawk's colours.

Re: Jesse Smith - earlier reports placed him at Sunbury however local news has linked him with Heidelberg (NFL) through his contacts with new coach Gavin Crosisca.
