Opinion Paddy Dow, can you see a pathway for him to break into our best 22 or are we resigned to losing him?

What are Dow's chances of breaking into the best 22?

Dow needs senior’s game time, embrace and immerse in the positive momentum of the new Vossy way, it will inspire him, he’ll play his best footy I reckon.
Just a youngster, so patience, he’ll come good, if not come end season trade table awaits.
Hopefully gets a go soon.

All I know is him sitting on his ass all day did nothing for his development, dumb rule the sub

Yeah, him being an unused sub was crap for his prospects of being selected for senior footy soon, and crap for the development of our other players in the VFL who really missed having him at the stoppages on the weekend.

Stop with the hyperbole.
Dow has had 20+ 10 times in his career. Kennedy has been in the votes once this year.

There's also the fact that Kennedy is 2 and half years older than Dow.
Nice try. Dow and Kennedy played around same games. How many times has kennedy had 20 +. Dow is barely Afl and will not make it. Kennedy is solid Afl and his best is A grade

Nice try? You were clearly wrong with your claims.
And shouldn't the fact that they've played a similar number of games, but Dow being 2 and a half years younger point to Dow having a lot of upside? Because he's shown more than Kennedy had 2 years ago, and look how good he's come in the last 8 months.

Not really. Teague took a stance on Kennedy. We now know Teague had no idea.

Hopefully Dow gets his chance soon. Previous years showed poor kicking, poor defensive running, poor tackling, low disposal count.

His VFL form has upped a lot this year. So hopefully that improves each category I mentioned above.

I do get scared with our second half fade outs and having Dow in there. His defensive turning circle at pace has been huge meaning he never catches anyone in open play…our current weakness.

I'd have loved a fresh dow coming on in the last quarter last sunday............

Better that he didn’t though? Dow being unused was because no injury occurred.

So good no one got injured but still wouldve been nice to have him come on especially when we were getting overrun in the midfield.
Think thats the point poster was making.

He's becoming a good VFL centreman who can go forward and kick a goal which is an improvement on previous seasons. Our midfield is hard to crack but I look forward to seeing how he goes when he does.

Perhaps we explore another position where we are a little weak? Why not see if he can play wing? He's fast and good evasively. Perhaps his kicking and defensive running could be against him there but worth giving him a go at it in the VFL. I'd definitely give him a go, for all we know perhaps he's better than Setterfield and that gets him in our team.

Im open to the idea of trading dow at seasons end, hopefully shows enough in vfl and a couple of afl games through the year to ro get an ok pick, maybe in the late teens early twenties, load up on this draft, go into the draft with 10, 18, 28, stock up on talls and a winger
I think dow can be a good afl player, and he might have ok value (dont have a lot of that) that we could cover, we also have philp, carrol, kemp, cuningham, and stocker to fit in over time, high half forwards in fish martin and maybe honey to fill gaps with pace
Just my 2c
