Because they’re not $ubiaco.
Ahh yes, now it makes sense, Souths are not the banking club...

Kicked a nice goal from 55 out, didn’t do much else though
As mentioned in an earlier post he might turn out be a better backman given he is a hard tackler, has some mongrel and has a great kick
would Jlo be game to be daring and try that , no way (liam jones and josgh bruce went back and look better players)

Cox’s last year as a forward he was also doing nothing (although I still think he showed much more than Treacy as a forward overall) and the switch to defence saved his career.

Treacy and Sturt both strike me as players who could be better in non forward roles, Sturt as a wing and Treacy (like Chris Tarrant) as a defender.

Couldn't hurt to try both in those roles, given our dire needs for more depth in both positions.

Or we could just pretend Joel Hamling and Wilson will be here until they are 49.

I wasn't too upset with trading out our depth but we got hit with the triple blow

traded out our depth
drafted poor as we traded out our top picks at the same time
players not developing to fill those roles
Just a quibble; We traded out 3 best 22 players, not depth.

I was mainly distracted from the game by the leggy blond water-girl for Peel that would run out to players every time someone kicked a goal (did anyone else notice her?) but my brief notes from watching this:

Treacy - took a good mark in the fourth and kicked a long goal and looked to be moving well, but otherwise struggled to get into it - this game I note he was a more permanent fixture forward.
Erasmus - Still having people just sitting on him all game, was able to get a bit more of the ball but because of said sitting his disposal was always rushed and haphazard.
Worner - Was average with disposal but got a few good tackles and disposals was up there, partly because it was in the back half a lot.
Wilson - Continued to put his name amongst the options to come back in IMO, decent performance with run off half back and normally okay disposal.
Emmett - Can get the ball but disposal atm is sub-WAFL level atm; feels a bit like a lesser version (but maybe better lateral agility?) of Bailey Banfield.
O'Driscoll - was out there working hard - not ready yet but a building game; another run and he might be right to come back into the first team.
Henry - was quiet until he got injured.
Kuek - Had no significant impact.
Draper - Very quiet stat wise, was beaten on the lead a couple of times that I saw (partially at a disadvantage given how quickly it was coming in at times), but when he did get the ball used it well and put pressure on the forward line.
Davies - I thought he was better than last week, got a bit more of the ball this game and wore his opponent closely (for a freo defender).
Reidy - looked raw but was somewhat competitive in the ruck contest and got around the ground a bit.

Also Clay Hall, okay I think I saw some of what the fuss was about this game, was definitely about and one of the better Peel players today. Not sure he will be drafted Top 40 but has some AFL attributes.

Hardly. He was 20 at the time.
Treacy’s development by the coaches has been poor. Hardly any consistency or base to allow for improvement.

Add in Treacy for back up ruck, and allow Jackson to rove/full time forward. Treacy is a dog at the contest. Floats around the ground.
Jl is scared to even try it.

I only watched the first half but I don't see why Wilson isn't playing WAFL when Wagner's in the AFL.

O'Driscoll really went in and out, but he stands out. Hard to make any assessment on the forwards it hardly went down there with any significance. Erasmus was good, but still has a lot to round out his game. I was really impressed with Clay Hall.

Eric Benning for what it’s worth had a decent game in the reserves and named one of the best:
15 possessions, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 10 hit outs and 4 goals 1.

A lot have suggested he looks best as defender. His best in the underage comp was as a forward ruck which what he played yesterday.

Unlikely to happen while Treacy, Kuek and Corbett are fit but I'd love to see him given a go at FF in the league team and would be certain he'd go very well. He doesn't have the tank to play AFL in any position but he can be a very good WAFL player if he wants to be. Will need to come off our list to do that though due to the lack of opportunity he's going to get at league level with us.

This is the time we need to move 1 of these guys back or in the ruck so all the big lads get opportunities at peel

They aren't going to move any of them back; we are already playing Hamling, Davies and Draper back and they have looked more competent than any of the guys playing forward apart from maybe Treacy.

Ok, I remember his development as showing some real potential in year 1, followed by a season of injury when he didn't play much and then he hasn't shown much outside of pre-season since.

Mate Sturt is not a wingers arseh*le. He has no tank and isn’t that quick. Don’t get the hype on the bloke.
Disagree with this regarding the hype on him. He has barely got a look in. I thought it was because he was crap at footy. Turns out I was wrong.
He got two kicks from 45m out the last day and slotted both. He set up another goal with a good smother on the dogs defender in the packet and most of all - the run down tackle on the last in the middle of the ground was elite.
Bailey Banfield could play 300 games and he would never do something like that because he is too slow.
Sturt needs to play every game and we need to try get him marking on the lead i50 4-5 times a game. He will kick 3 goals every week then.
