I'm sure you all remember this game very well  . Well if you don't it was the game were Riccardi (spelling) kicked the goal with only a few seconds to go to put the Cats in front. Can anyone tell me who kicked it to Riccardi?

It was definatly David Clarke as he ran down the left wing, kicking possibly the best kick of his career. The rest was history, oh how that day made me cycle through emotions like a twister on steroids :D !

One of the few games, in recent years, that I have actually been too. When we got 38 odd points up I remember Dad (Carlton supporter) saying that Geelong were the only team that could lose from here. We tried our best!

I'll never forget that game, when Lappin got that bull******** 50m penalty, i saw there were only 25 seconds left so i stood up in a fit of rage, swore my head off and left. When i was at the top of the stairs i heard a roar, i quickly ran back and saw ricco had it 50 out, i was standing right on the goal line. As soon as it left his boot i was confident and when it cleared the goal line i went nuts and hugged some random cat fan.

What a great moment!!

that was the game where Lappin started kicking goals from the boundary line!

There was also some controversy as to whether Riccardi's kick was touched on the mark

Lappin kicked the last two goals for them both resulting from some sort of umpire intervention. The first one was a Milburn deliberate OOB which was there (thought at the time I thought otherwise) which Lappin freakishly converted from the boundary. Very good goal.

The second one was Rooke's 50m penalty cause when Rooke went for the spoil Lappin fell to ground clutching his head like he had been hit (subsequent viewings show not even a feather touch). The umpire bought this and gave 50, though it should never be 50 anyway.

The ball travelled almost 50-55 meters, and Wiggins had a spat for a while getting Britian involved about how it was touched - maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t. Carlton got a free goal from Lappin before, we got this one - it’s simply justice. Did they also notice that other players came too close to the mark and should have been 50 for interference?

I have watched this game far too many times :D

I maintain that Rooke has never fully recovered from that.

Don't worry Grimace, I've only seen the match once, but each of those dramatic passages of play is etched into my football memory bank. We could talk all day about the dubious umpiring decisions and whether we really should have conceeded 40 odd points in the final quarter - but such is football.

Ah, the memories, still remember that ball of Ricco's sailing through.

Damn straight mate, I never once know still bicker about those decisions - it is history. It may have been karma, may have been the hand of God or even the fact to try and make me make the most regrettable decision of my life when I was a step outside colonial before I decided that there still was 28? seconds left.

But it remains as one of those moments that make me smile and warms my heart. Was it the fact that is was Carlton, or the fact that Ricco kicked it, or even the look Kingy gave the Carlton cheer squad as it went through the big sticks. No, it was the fact it was simply magic, summed up by the Herald Suns headline being "Miracle at the Dome" the next day (or something like that).

It didn't really sail through, probably a bit more of a JB's 'black hawk down' - but it went through.

What im not obsessed, who said that?

i was on the 3rd level behind the goalposts he was kicking to, and i wasnt sure whether that floater kick of his was going to make the distance.
