ok let's look at west coasts fwd options for the future:

Oscar Allen- great
Jake Waterman- decent role player
Jack Williams- unproven
Ryan Maric - unproven
Callum Jamieson- Nope
Barnett- unproven, ruck?

So JVR would go immediately to your 2nd best forward.

Wce just need good players across the park. I think if wce are real with themselves about their list it will most likely mean that they will try to split their pick.
He's undersized. Could replace Darling in a couple of years, I guess.

A fat load of good JVR would do if the ball can't get there well enough.

It's clear you've never watched us or seen our stats, we were easily the worst side for clearances and scoring from clearances this year. Why would we give away Pick 1 (to a flag contender no less) when the player at that position is exactly what our side has been crying out for for years?

Are you only naming talls? Long looks OK.

There is also AA player Liam Ryan.

To be fair Rivers makes a hell of a lot more sense than JvR.

Could inject him right into the midfield to help protect the youngsters. Bloke is a unit.

His contract lasting 'til 2027 makes that a harder play than JVR though. As much sense as it makes team-wise.

Would have thought one of the arguably worse teams of all time would be keen to turn over as many players as possible.

Need to space it out over 3 years and not do it all in 1. Likely to turn over 7 players this year but 3 of those will be current listed but young players in Brockman/Robertson and then one of Sweet/Nick Bryan

Next year we will have a few to easily move on still but no point rushing it and paying them out to use pick 80 is all

Don’t think we’d get too far by giving up generational talent for half back flankers though

Something to think about with regards to giving up 1 thing for a ton of picks

For Tim Kelly, Eagles gave up

Pick 16 - Cooper Stephens (traded already, cant get a game)
Pick 27 - Jeremy Sharp (to be traded)
Pick 36 - Nick Bryan (2nd choice ruck. Likely to leave)
Pick 18 - Ryan Angwin (battler not in the regular team)

Just proof that alot of nothing isnt necessarily as good as the actual thing

Pick 16 - Cooper Whyte (delisted)

That's not correct. It was Cooper Stephens, who was traded to Hawks (and hasn't gotten a game with them either).

you just picked up Ginbey and Hewett. 2 elite mids (well they were at least early picks). it's not that dire.

The WC fans who think Reid is worth any more then the current cream of the crop AFL players is laughable.
Why can't everyone just shut up and let us take Reid then ?

Its a national competition.

All I hear is a Victorian narrative that west coast should take a shit deal so a once in a generation Victorian can stay home

Nah we should just take Reid our recruitment staff have no problem picking KPPs .

This goes both ways of you bring up Adelaide Dawson, Rankin and Rachelle /JHF scenario
