When we play the Bulldogs I would sit him on Caleb Daniels and tell him to pound the little cheap shot merchant into the turf. Legally of course. ;)

Id rather he go to Cody Weightman
I'm happy for the 'legally' to be off the table if he's pounding Weightman into the turf.

Great game from the boy Pepper!

I thought he was quite poor the first 3 quarters tbh. Not for a lack of effort, just nothing was going right for him. But then that final quarter of his, he was truly instrumental. Causes the turnover for the Fantasia goal. Kicks the go-ahead goal with a beautiful snap. And then he's responsible for the kick inside 50 to Dixon for the match winning goal. Wasn't his night for 3 quarters - but when the moments were asked of him late on, he stepped up big time.

RussellEbertHandball said this about Peps and I fully concur, he is one of those players you want in your side in finals. I think it was Dermie maybe even Eddie said he is one of those guys who decides he is going to get the ball and he doesn't care who he has to go through to get it.

You want him in there when games are decided by wrenching space from your opponents a metre at a time.

My favourite thing about Pep is how he is always the first player over to help someone up off the ground. He cares for his teamates and you know he will do everything he possibly can for them in finals. Would love for him to have a bit of a similar realisation to Wines' that he doesn't need to do too much - just needs to do his bit and that the rest will sort itself out.

Just a heart and soul player and the sort of guy who is perfect for finals.

I was pissed of with him in the first quarter when he gave away 2 dumb free kicks and made a critical error, but after half time his vigour was essential to us winning. He barged he way thru packs and wouldn't let the oppo get passed him. Champion Data might have invent a new SPP stat to somehow record what he brings to a team because the current set of stats just don't do it.

Does a lot of team first, unrewarded stuff that wouldn't go unnoticed by the coaches. This board memed the Jake Neade pressure acts but the difference with SPP's pressure acts is that he's actually a genuine threat, you'd want to get rid of the ball when he's in the vicinity, unlike Neade who had to run around in the shower to get wet.

I see a few people are on the “once Motlop is available drop SPP” train of thought.
The last quarter today is why I think he stays. Motlop probably has him covered for outright skill but SPP battled all day and things clicked when the heat was on.
Even when not playing well he has a strong physical presence and that is not Motlops forte.
In a finals type game I’m sure he’ll probably concede a free or two but you know he’ll just put his head down and go again.
Also think his goal kicking is under rated.

Remember the rate occasions when Matt Thomas would play a good game and use his body and just barrel in to people and drive the footy forward? That's what I think SPP can do, but better and much more regularly.

And this is why comparing James Rowe to SPP in terms of forward effectiveness is an example of the application of the quote Lies, damn lies and statistics.

Peps had 30 touches, 8 tackles, 10 clearances, 5 inside 50s and a goal.

Dropped but didn't shirk and worked hard. Good to see.

No clue how he pulled this off.

Henry took 8 intercept marks and probably saved 5 goals and must have just been too stuffed, because that probably was the easiest intercept he attempted all night.
