Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

For those who are willing to take me for my word, please read on. For those who think Im talking out of my arse Im not going to try an convince you.

Anyway, the Brown family is very close to my own. Whether you believe that or not is up to you.

Campbell Brown was offered by Hawthorn to sweeten the deal for Burgoyne, Campbell Brown was absolutely guttered, Campbell has since ruled out the option leaving the Hawks handcuffed. Campbell has had strong words with the football department, mainly to do with the manner in which he was informed.

Campbell Brown is one angry kid, as is his father who has since verified that Hawthorn were willing to add Campbell to the trade, Mal actually encourage Campbell to leave, his words in regards to Hawthorn,

" a pack of desperate, disloyal dogs."

Again, whether you choose to believe me or not is up to you.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

Utter BS!

I heard Mal brown on the radio today say that campbell was very relaxed and took it well.

He also stated:
*That if he was out of contract he would have considered
*He still has some ares of his studies which need to be completed, final year i think he said
*His girlfriend is in the process of opening a new business
*Plus he felt that 2010 is the wrong year to leave as he felt the Hawks had a good chance to repeat 2009.
*Has not been distracted by all the talk, has had great support from many people at the club, has already started training!

Was on AA this morning!
I think you received that yellow card for stupidity!

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

How the **** am I spreading bullshit?

Campbell has been asked to leave the club for the trade to go through, he's contracted and the ball is completely in his court.

But Hardie and Barich are spot on, are you going to ban them?

The Brown's are family friends so ban me if it makes you feel better, but this offer has been put to Campbell, that's a fact.

Utter BS!

And?

Apparently last night I was spreading BS and look how that turned out, Mal actively encouraged Campbell to leave the club on the news that his son was even considered for a trade.

In case you dont know Mal, he can fly off the wall, it was Campbell who calmed him down with is reasoning, but still I'd be lying if I said Campbell hadnt shed a tear.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

Well Mal also said he just got back from a fishing trip this morning so im not sure where you have dug this up from! He had spoken to campbell briefly last night and in more depth this morning! Sounded very relaxed and open minded about the whole thing.
For sure there would have been a little disappointment because its his son but not to the extent you have put it!

i dont blame campbell for being guttered. so were about 1000000 supporters that flooded SENs phone lines yesterday.

but let me point something out to you Mundy. It did not leave the hawks handcuffed at all. the hawks hold the cards here. port get nothing if they dont deal with us. simple.

we have other options. a 3 way deal was always an option and now looks like it will secure burgoyne.

but they certainly are not handcuffed when it comes to doing a deal.

i love having campbell at the hawks - he is one of my favourite players and is the heart and soul of that club along with hodgey.

what we do know is that he is staying at our club. an outcome i am very happy with.

One thing everybody should remember about what happened here is all we told port was there was a list of untouchables that wouldn't be considered as part of a trade.

This doesn't mean a trade had been done or not.

First port would need to convince the player involved (in this case brown) that it was to their benefit to go.

Only after they could do that would a trade be put together.

I think it is fair to say that if brown did want to leave (and it would only be on that proviso) then we would not stop him if a deal could be done.

This is very much different to the inference that we were somehow shopping around brown against his will.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

so you wouldn't watch football ever again if Osborne was traded?

i love ozzy and would hate to see him at any other club although i could probaby stand to watch another game but he is a premiership player and i dont beleive anyone should be traded except for the two i mentioned cause they are both *******s. and personally i dont thinks the hawks offered brownie why would they?
this is how it propbably went down.
Port: what bout c brown can we ahve him
hawks: no you cant hes still contracted
port: well can we talk to him
hawks: yes but it wont do you any good he wont leave hawthorn and hes contracted
port: what if he wants to come.
Hawks: he wont but if he does than maybe
brow: no ****ing way am i going to tht shit hole.
hawks happy me happy brownie happy

Re: will browndog still play his guts out in '10?

I'd back the Hawks version of trading over the Port version. I expect it was something like:

Pelchen - Here's a list of players we won't trade..for any reason.

Rhode - Hmm..Brown isn't on that list, can we talk to him?

Pelchen - Sure, go for your life.

Rhode - Hell yeah! <Rings Brown> Want to come to Port?

Brown - WTF? Is that you Roughead? GTFO and come have a beer. Just roasting a drop-bear now. What? You REALLY ARE from Port Adelaide? Ahahahahaahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahah. Hawthorn offered me for trade? Nah, don't believe you. They might have said I'm not untouchable. Now bugger off before I eat all your kittehs!

Rhode - <Rings Journalist> Tried to do a deal with Hawthorn and Brown. They offered him up they did. And he made me cry. He doesn't want to come to Port. Can you do the usual Hawk hatred article?

Journalist - Hmm, Hawthorn offer to trade pick #9 and Brown to Port for Burger but didn't tell their player good enough for you?

Rhode - Yeah, and I'll go on the radio later tonight to cry over them a bit more. Beer after that?

Journalist - Yeah, meet you at the usual strip club?

Rhode - Sure. Chocco can't come though, he doesn't care enough about the list to even be in the country.

ha lol thats probably exactly how i went down i'd trust hawthorn over port any day and i will only believe we offered him up for trade when brownie says it himself

I hope you mean 2008.

Re: ARTICLE: Port Adelaide's Mark Williams driving Campbell Brown deal

What confirmation from mal brown?

I haven't seen anything.

And I still pose the Q, can you put up somebody knowing they won't accept?

Interesting point.

Maybe we offered Brown to Port knowing he would say no to Port when they rang him (maybe we even coached Brown what to say). That way we could say to Port that we have tried to give them what they want and then Port would be more likely to accept a lesser deal on Burgoyne.

If so that is a great strategy. :thumbsu:

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

I just hope Brown refuses to leave the club. Maybe this is a little ploy to put a good player up for trade that will never agree to go, but looks as though we have tried to get the deal done and hence, send Burgs to the National Draft for only pick 9?

I can only dream :(

Spot on, I hope ;)

Each year Port might finish anywhere from 2nd to 16th. The reason is they have no ticker; apologies to anyone named Cornes, no other exceptions. It is called character. Enter Campbell Brown. Character is the reason we love Campbell Brown and Geelong hates/admires him. We don't need flashy frontrunners to win a flag. It takes character and loyalty.

Re: ARTICLE: Port Adelaide's Mark Williams driving Campbell Brown deal

First thing I have read this week that I actually believe.

Helen Keller could have told you that.

Rohde transcends all previous levels of incompetency. He is a complete and utter goose.

F*CK Me! I hope not.

Besides anything else, we don't friggin' need Burgoyne. We should, if anything, be further cementing a backline or more importantly, going for a ruck. I would be shattered if Campbell left- he has too much Hawks blood and is far too vital to our team make up. Hawthorn- GET IT TOGETHER- LEAVE BURGOYNE BECAUSE WE DON'T NEED HIM!

Haven't been reading the papers or following the news since yesterday morning?

Yeah, been really slack with the papers- just caught up. Sorry about that fellow Hawks fans. Anyway, very good news that. Also just read that we have Burgoyne but at the loss of Williams etc. I still remain adament that we don't need Burgoyne though and that there are other things we need to focus on.
