Analysis Pick Mitch Harvey now, not in 2017!!

Maybe they won't play him because they think they'll destroy his confidence....? From what I've read he hasn't set the world on fire and would probably be a liability when it comes to chasing and forward pressure. We've heard and observed that the gulf btwn local and afl is huge. Guys like Gray, Stewart, Young etc have shown that. Not sure he would offer anything better at this stage.
Harvey v Harry Taylor would offer a shit load more than Sam Gray v Harry Taylor, Robbie Gray v Harry Taylor, Paul Stewart v Harry Taylor and Ollie Wines v Harry Taylor - because thats what we got all last night with our forward line structure.

Destroy his confidence for the next decade after 1 or 2 games - give me a ****en break. If he is that soft in the head then we delist him at the end of the year.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. We are insane if we dont find out which one of young KFP's can play the game and expect 5 foot 11 blokes to beat 6 foot 5 blokes.

If Harvey gets 5 kicks - half what Sam Gray got last night, more kicks than Monfries got last night and more than Paul Stewart got last night he will offer a shit load more than what they did last night.

We won't make the eight this year so its time to get games into the likes of Harvey,Arch,Amon,Its a waste of time giving games to the spud brigade,,,S.Gray,Young,Stewart ect. These players are not AFL standard.

So a shit load more. So those clowns in the coaches box are insane? Didn't say for the next decade. I'm sure when they think he's up for it they'll pick him. Whether next week or next year.

Gives me the creeps the way they "groom" players to be "afl" ready.
Give me a player with a bit of mongrel in him and a deep desire to make an impact any day.
These well groomed players who are tweaked with and twiddled with often turn into mindless marshmallows who amount to nothing but useless confused spuds sporting the ground.
Get between his ears and tell them to get stuck into it and just tear them apart imo.

Harvey should have been picked two weeks ago when Ryder dropped out. If he's not able to run out a full game well I could be wrong but I think they've introduced this thing call the interchange where you are allowed to take players off the ground for a spell and put them back on later. Yeah pretty funky I know.

Maybe they could have tried that with him.

Love the concept but I don't believe he's yet fit enough for AFL and I think We would be throwing him to the wolves too early.
Dont get me wrong I love the kid, but I need to see more to be convinced he's ready to play one of the hardest positions on the ground in modern football.
How do we know how fit he is at the top level if he isn't tested out. Besides we could always sub him off after 3 quarter time. He can at least provide a contest up forward, bring the ball to ground for the smaller forwards and help Lobbe a bit in the ruck which is the structure we are trying to go for with Ryder. Ryder is due back after the bye so one game against carlton who we should beat is not going to be a disaster.

I notice from Harv's 3/4 time stats he has only scored 2 points, but has 4 inside 50's to his name, maybe the I50's were from working up the ground.
I believe one of his scores was from on, or outside the 50, and you could bet distance wasn't a problem, nice to see him tonk a couple of big ones in the last qtr though.

I dare say we are now playing for 2016 now. So why not give our younger guys game time and put our senior guys on notice........westhoff and ryder I'm thinking of you.

Cannot help but "like" a multitude of times.

Stop planning as if it's a chess game on a pristine board. Players must have the capacity to be a (as far possible) one grab/accurate disposal regardless of their designated (little box) position.

Then we hear "We must go back to basics".

FFS:mad:

Can you let us know how he goes?
Well the answer was very well.
He is a rock in marking contests; not unbeatable but very, very reliable. He is a fairly accurate kick from distance too. There will be more in the
West Adelaide vs Port Adelaide - Round 10 @ Richmond thread. He played hard, skilful footy in a variety of positions and moved around the ground in a way that showed a fitness level I had doubted he had.

In regards to other tall options, is Mason Shaw injured?
Yes, I hadn't realised that either until today. But IMO Billy Frampton has now entered the running, with a Westhoff type of game.

You cannot name players with intent to make them the sub out player. Too risky.
There would be players penciled in to be subbed out by coaches across the league every week.. barring injury forcing their hand of course.
