Watson
Warner
Marsh
Ponting (for the summer)
Clarke
Hussey (sadly his end is coming soon, maybe the selectors will spring a huge surprise?)
Haddin (ugh we all know he won't be dropped)
Christian (no more Starc please, since Watson won't be bowling may as well bring in someone who may be able to fill that role)
Siddle
Pattinson
Lyon

Could get very interesting for Huss sadly if Khawaja finally makes some runs. Hughes is not in our best XI when guys like Watson and Marsh are ready - pretty much regardless of what happens tomorrow, can't have guys like him and Marcus North who only perform every 5 innings or so.

EDIT: and forgot about Hazlewood. He can take Christian's spot.

Another poster and I on here had a discussion about Hussey the other day actually. He's definitely sending out a few concerning signs. The Ashes-SL stuff will probably save him for awhile - although maybe the extended time he got before may result in less time given to him now? - but he's been poking to the seamers again and the innings at the gabba against vettori mainly....

Copelands form has been good since being back for NSW.

Also, Hussey. Bad signs! Let's not forget how hopelessly out of form he was before the Ashes. The selectors talked of bringing in Khawaja but Ponting didn't want to move down to four and Hussey struck a century and found form in his last innings for WA before the Ashes. Had he made a duck that day his career likely would have been over. He repaid the selectors faith ten times over in the Ashes and Sri Lanka but the end is close too. Ponting's exit will delay the inevitable for a while one would suspect but the signs are not good.

He had a good Sri Lanka series, and he moves the ball
If he can string some shield form together (like he has done over the past few seasons) then he should get a chance
If he gets some form together, but atm it is rubbish

McKay on the other hand has just hit form, would be a great choice but it will never happen, people like to remember him for 1 bad game on a road

Warner
Watson
Khawaja (Assuming S.Marsh isn't 100%)
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Haddin (happy for him to continue Wade, Paine, Nevill and Triffit are handy back ups though :thumbsu:)
M.Marsh
Siddle
Pattinson
Lyon

Mitchell Marsh has been outstanding with the ball so far this fc season and is known to be a very good batsmen. The indians are likely to score a lot of runs and he could help add to our total. If he makes runs and bowls well I would bring Cummins in for Siddle as soon as he is fit. If S.Marsh is fit bring him in for Khawaja. Hussey needs to find form. If he doesn't then bring Christian in.

My side for the tour of the West Indies:

Warner
Hughes
S.Marsh
Watson (vc)
Clarke (c)
Khawaja
Haddin/Wade/Nevill (depending on form, maybe take two over)
M.Marsh
Cummins
Pattinson
Lyon

Will Watson bowl in Melbourne? Because if he doesn't that changes things dramatically. On the attack, we will probably play both Siddle and Pattinson, with Watson also hopefully bowling. That leaves a fourth quick. Harris? Too injury-proned, has no future unfortunately as if fit, he's our best quick. Starc? Too inconsistent. Has talent, but is too raw for Test cricket. McKay? Seems to be finding form, and knows how to bowl well on the 'G. The rest are either injured, out of form, batting All-Rounders or too raw for test cricket. Warner and Lyon spin twins. The side that probably will happen now IMO:

Watson
Warner
Khawaja
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Haddin
Siddle
Pattinson
Starc
Lyon

I would prefer McKay over Starc, but the selectors will disagree.

Would not be putting Mitch Marsh in the test team yet. Especially not against the Indians. If he wants to be a test cricketer he needs to add a lot more substance to his batting or go the way of Henriques. He is a much better bowler than Henriques, but could you imagine what Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman and Dhoni would do to him on a flat pitch if he got played as a specialist bowler at this stage of his career?
