That looks good to me. All valid options each filling some sort of need.
Truth be told, the one thing that you can count on with Hine is that the strategy is unpredictable. Knowing Hine, we'll go all key defenders, or nothing but short people...

We've all been predicting one pacy player, one extractor and one tall forward, for the most part, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Hine double up on one of those needs and ignore another one entirely, particularly if he thinks he can snag someone late that will fill a need.

I can see him going straight past a tall. We have plenty on the list, with another one pending in Moore. Mostly people are wanting a tall as a future replacement for Q. Lynch. It wouldn't surprise to see him pick a couple of pacey mids or inside mids purely because they were best available.

Where he might surprise is with something a little different like Nathan Wright or Nick Graham or even Colquoun. All have been quite good in their own way, but are not as you say "sexy" picks that the public pay attention to. Hine does seem to have a different rating system and over the years this has been proven to be pretty good.

I am kind of expecting a selection that everyone will go ape shit over as he passes a Kennedy or Garlett - Graham could be that guy he has been solid all year, won the Morrish medal and would be very bankable.

Well if we are eyeing off any of the SA products at our selections namely Tim O'Brien or Ben Kennedy, we will have to pounce with 18 or 19 if either are available as the Crows are wedged at 20 before our next pick at 21.

If we went Gargoyle at 18, Membrane/Bonergan at 19 and Shawt-Shawts at 21, then hopefully got a bite at Spencer Tunic at 39 as a project tall, I'd be preeeety happpy. Yeah!

OK, I've been sitting on the fence, but here goes:

18: Garlett/Simpson
19: O'Brien/Clurey/Membrey
21: Lonergan/Hrovat.

One speed demon with good foot-skills, One tall forward(would only take Clurey if we think there is the prospect of him playing forward and I think Membrey will be a nice compliment to Cloke) and One extractor.

I think all players mentioned above fit the Hine style of recruiting

And is this somehow 'not' sitting on the fence? You have picked 7 players for 3 spots... :)

This is similar to me. I have posted elsewhere that I want an inside mid, an outside mid, and either a key position player or another mid from these three picks, so this is consistent.

From your list, I would have Garlett, Clurey, Lonergan.

Means if we win the flag next year we should get pick 15, because both Melb and Adel should be out of the draft.

Huh? If we win the flag, we get given pick 18, Then Melbourne and Adelaide lose theirs, we are down to pick 16. Where does 15 come from?

Also, you need to remember that a free agent or two may push us back out to the the high teens again anyway. Stupid free agency rule.

I think we'll go mostly tall. If we rate James Stewart in the 50's, it stands to reason that we rank talls above him, and there aren't a lot of them rated in the top 10 or so. Ergo, I think we'll go for Garlett and a couple of bigger fellas, rather than the likes of Lonergan, Hrovat or Kennedy.

Just a hunch, probably way off.

Bit of a leap - Could just mean that we don't rate the talls in this draft at all, and that we're going nothing but smalls...

There's no real way to know Hine's thinking.

Surely not every player who moves will get band 1 compo...

And yeah dunno why I though 17 down to 15 anyway 16 is good enough after a flag;) .

I dont think the AFL would of ever taken viney from melbourne
Yeah, fair enough. I know this opinion is out there, but I think they would. If a team was proven to have tanked, the penalties will be very harsh (and far outweigh just taking a good young player away from a club).

I think with the romanticism of father-son it would of been brutal and caused huge uproar if they took away viney especially after melbourne had already got him. I would of prefered they all their picks under 80 for the next 2 years but could still take viney (as the deal was already done)
