Players To Trade For

Is it just me or did that article mention several fantasy trades involving free agents? For AFL writers, they don't appear to know much about AFL (if I can pick up on these mistakes, then I'm sure others can see even more)!

Just out of interest when do free agents become eligible to sign on the dotted line?

Is it immediately after the season ends, or is it only when their contract has expired, i.e. after trade week?

Think October 1st, club has until the 21st to match, or 3 days. Whichever comes first I believe.

On Foley, I would be open to trading him to GC or GWS for a young midfielder. I'd rather get games into a young kid rather than have Foley on the sideline.

Please don't think I'm being aggressive here. I'm not I just need to use capital letters so that people will hopefully notice it:

NATHAN FOLEY IS A FREE AGENT.

We will not be trading him anywhere.

By reading the article about trades it seems as if we might actually get something from Gus and Posty. Pears would be awesome if he can get his body and development right, how old is he? I cant be bothered to check.
If only we could poach a few of the Gws and gc kids to come to us.

Tiges targeting an in-and-under midfield player from an interstate club... one of our assistant coaches made contact with him this week regarding his contract status, having prior relationships with him at his former club. Word is said player is keen to come home to Melbourne. Nice and cryptic for you all :)

I think the above means very little - Clubs contacting player/player manager is not an uncommon occurrence. For the record the player is Josh Kennedy.

Please, I will pash HAD while wearing a Blues jumper in front of the MCG if Josh Kennedy comes to our club

WOW that would be awesome but can't see it happening :(

Hey guys, what is the problem with Jayden Post?

Just curious as to why he isnt really getting games, seems to do OK when in the seniors.

Does tend to have brain fades when under pressure and isnt the most composed when the ball is coming in high and long.

(edit: this is not a "I want Essendon to trade for him" or a "looking at him for Supercoach next year" question)

Has always been a scapegoat, and fair enough. Hasn't shown anywhere near enough being a player picked in the 20s. Never looks composed and can't kick.

He's shit. He has one fan on this board who is so one-sided no one takes him seriously anymore.

How many times does it have to be spelt out to you that Foley is a free agent and thus a club who makes an offer to him, that we do not match, does not have to compensate us. Wake up! we have no power to trade him. Learn the rules before you talk about trading players.

He just cant break into a pretty settled side , his versatility s the key, equally at home as a chf or chb , has hands like a steel trap...and plenty of courage in the contest. I have a feeling he will want to split, with a few likely suitors , a second rounder should get it done

A 2nd rounder for Jayden Post  Who has effectively shown zero?

Shut up "mate", i know what i'm talking about. There has been almost no speculation that Foley will become a free agent. No rumours about him leaving as a free agent, nothing. So i'm fairly sure he will sign a contract. And if he does, trade week is after free agency finishes. Why would we let him walk if we could get something for him, which we most certainly could unless he is offered a ridiculous contract (which he won't because of his injury status)? Makes no sense does it?

But cheers for spelling it out for me anyway, really appreciate it.

You are a generous man, Bo. "At home" is not how I would describe the guy on an AFL ground, either forward or back. Lost is more the way I see it, but I have to agree he has a lovely set of hands, and as we all chorus, potential. I'd think we'd be lucky to get a 3rd rounder for him in a trade, I fear however that we will not get anything. Let's not forget that Sydney gave us pick 70 odd for Mitch Morton who had kicked 50+ goals 2 seasons prior.
