North Melbourne
Although I've never met the man
I can feel the sadness of his mates
Who are shattered of the passing
Of one of North Melbourne's greats

Lidge was a true Shinboner
He was as North as the Arden Street race
Now his time has come to leave us all
We've lost a roo we can't replace

St Peter himself won't know what to do
The poor old bugger will die with fright
When Lidge passes through those famous gates
Dressed in royal blue and white

On Sunday he'll sit with Judy and Maca
And they'll all find time to laugh
As they watch their favourite sons from Arden Street
Give the poor old Swans a bath

So on Sunday when the scoreboard shows
The name North Melbourne in bright lights
Take a time to think of Lidge
Who led the fight of fights

On Sunday grab a beer from the Social Club
Or a beer from your own cold fridge
As you watch our boys give the Bloods a bath
Then raise your beer for Lidge.

PS: I am not a regular poster but sent Lidge a PM last year when we defeated Ron Clarke, Demetriou et. al. He got back straight away and said that this was only the beginning and that we had to keep fighting until this club became the greatest in the land - typical really. RIP Lidge.

Far out.

Seriously, that was incredible.

Really sums up everyone's feelings there in a beautifully worded poem.

Brought a smile to my face.

Great work.

Thanks for that, real nice.:)

Another awesome poem Northtilidie.

Well done.

Exceptionally well done, NorthtillIdie.

Now we just need Boner to write a tune and then sing it as an anthem to our boy Lidge. Maybe there is another concert in memory of Lidge this time.

It is unbelievable you know, I only met Lidge face to face once but through this forum he has become like a brother.

These are very very sad days that we are experiencing and will experience for a long time to come.

I'm sure Boner would look into writing a tribute song if possible. We would all love that.
