Criticism and politicisation of the public service is bi-partisan in Australia just as much as it is in the US. The conservatives might be more overt and blatant about it, but the ALP do it too. Same with the GOP and Dems. GOP are overt, but the Dems also do it.

Then again, if you just let one side appoint cronies to posts and don't kick them out, you'll be chasing your tail the whole time. Once it starts, it's very hard to turn back.

My wife and I just said goodbye to one of our best friends who is moving to Mexico. She stood next to my wife when we married, she was outside the delivery room when both my kids were born, and was there for every birthday and holiday.

Her parents brought her across the Rio Grande 40 years ago, and she's been here her entire life. She is a Dreamer, as well as very politically active for the Dreamers. Unfortunately that painted a target on her back. She decided to self deport on her own terms before she was yanked out of her house and forced onto a bus south by whatever enforcement the president elect decides to use. She's going to apply for a Visa to return once she's in Mexico, but not hopeful because she apparently committed crime coming across illegally 40 years ago at 16 months old.

He's not deporting anything. There'll be a few thousand deportees. It'll be heavily publicised, they'll make it as cruel and stupid as possible, but it won't affect the economy at all.

He didn't do anything himself. He's incapable, he doesn't understand how Government works, and the people he's appointing are equally as useless.

There's no money in the deportation of poor immigrants, so he won't do it.
