First the ukrainian war wont be stopped in day 1 and now the deportation of 20 million may not be so quick

While Trump’s allies have floated measures to detain and deport people residing in the US illegally, the plans largely depend on the resources and funds available to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which historicallyhas had budget shortfalls.

“We are not having a discussion about 20 million (deportations). We are having a discussion about an order, and priority, and expectation,” GOP Rep. Darrell Issa, who was in one of the meetings with Homan, told CNN.

The discussions are part of a broader level-setting that is occurring among House Republicans, who are now coming to terms with the challenges of turning one of their key campaign promises into a reality. Republicans are also grappling with the harsh realization that most of their border overhaul measures are unlikely to be included in Trump’s massive agenda bill, given the strict rules around the reconciliation process that require proposals to either increase revenue or reduce spending, not change policy.

“coming to terms with the challenges” …. that Trump is a bullshitter who will be unable to do anything he promised his gullible flock.

There’s a lot of things that Trump is still coming to terms with the challenges of.

Umbrellas.
Maps.
Country names.
Hair spray.
The truth.

It's his modus operandi - make the big statement and deliver sweet FA.
There is no concept of the detail required to make policy work effectively.
Perfect example is the Jan6 situation- claims he will release them on day 1 but also claims will look at each case individually. That might work if they started on it a while ago but you know that hasn't happened with any proper governance.
With over 1000 in jail they will just pick favourites and go for his biggest supporters.......

Propublica have done numerous articles about militias in the US. Their latest is a bit scary.

The Militia and the Mole

In the daylight, Williams dropped an envelope with no return address in a U.S. Postal Service mailbox. He’d loaded it with a flash drive and a gold Oath Keepers medallion.

It was addressed to me.

The documents laid out a remarkable odyssey. Posing as an ideological compatriot, Williams had penetrated the top ranks of two of the most prominent right-wing militias in the country. He’d slept in the home of the man who claims to be the new head of the Oath Keepers, rifling through his files in the middle of the night. He’d devised elaborate ruses to gather evidence of militias’ ties to high-ranking law enforcement officials. He’d uncovered secret operations like the surveillance of a young journalist, then improvised ways to sabotage the militants’ schemes. In one group, his ploys were so successful that he became the militia’s top commander in the state of Utah.

Now he was a fugitive. He drove south toward a desert four hours from the city, where he could disappear.

I’ve been a Labor voter all of my 41 years. It’s terrible to see a working class in America vote for something that disadvantages them.
All of you make fun of Trump but you fail to acknowledge how he captured the votes he did - he has some political talent.
How do the Dems claw back? How does the Centre left address right wing social media?
For me, the left needs to look back to some of its great leaders. In American politics I’ve started to idolise LBJ and what he stood for. An LBJ would have dwarfed Trump
"Trump has promised you [stuff] and hasn't given it to you" is what Democrats are going to run on in 2026 & 2028. They'll list what he's said he'll do and hasn't. It's going to be a long list because he's bad at thinking ahead before opening his mouth and is often ignorant of what the administration can and can't do.

At this point, he doesn’t need anyone.

I think he still needs more money. He’s got a ton of debt to pay. I suspect if Leon is willing to keep the money spigot turned on he will have Trumps ear for a while yet.

I mean they ran on "Trump is going to do nothing but enrich himself and take away all your rights" and his fanbase still showed up.

Dems have to run on "positive and strong messaging. What will help them is I suspect the Yanks will have another massive recession under Trump and that will help the Dem turn out in 2028.

The really unpredictable thing will be who does Trumps cult back in. If it isn't one of his sons, I can see the fanbase splitting to "Maga" which is likely Vance, and classic Republican.
